Lot 912

Four Georgian and later snuff boxes, papier mache and horn. CONDITION REPORT: The top of the oval bone box has sprung from the surround and there is a gap at the rear, there are no losses however. The interior is very dirty. The lid snaps shut as it should. There are numerous base and surface scratches. The papier mache snuffbox hinges shut as it should. The hinge has verdigris and there is some staining to the main body of the piece and some losses to the lacquer around the base. The smaller lacquered snuffbox has deterioration to the main surface finish particularly to the lid. The lid however is not warped and snaps shut as it should. The snuffbox with the printed top is in generally good order with only minor surface marks and scratches. The hinge is nice and tight.

Rechteckiger Korpus mit gerundeten Ecken in zwei Fächer durch mittige Trennwand und je einen separaten, aufgewölbten Scharnierdeckel unterteilt. Schmale, teilw. gewellte und mehrfach profilierte Montierung, schauseitig mit korrespondierend geteiltem, volutiertem Drücker.
