Davis by the Brethren of Abby Lodge, Nuneaton, No. 625, as a fraternal mark of their high esteem and as a grateful acknowledgment of their sense of obligation to him for his invaluable services in the formation & support of the above Lodge of free & Accepted Masons. Abbey Lodge was founded in 1836 and was the first of the five lodges in Nuneaton. [LANCASHIRE COTTON INDUSTRY INTEREST] AN EARLY VICTORIAN SILVER RECTANGULAR SNUFF BOX FRANCIS CLARK, BIRMINGHAM 1843 The cover engraved Presented to James Davies by Thomas Copeland in acknowledgement of Services rendered during the erection of a pair of Engines at Audley Mill, Blackburn. 9th May 1860, with an engine turned border, sides and base 8.cm (3 1/4in) long 107g (3.45 oz) Audley Mill, Kent street, was erected as a weaving shed in 1859-60 by Thomas Copeland from whom John Thompson purchased it circa 1880. By 1891 John Thompson and Co. were operating 588 looms to make shirtings and became part of Lilford Weavers in 1946. Weaving ended at Audley Mill in 1955.
