A SNUFF BOX CARVED FROM SHANNON TREEN, the lid carved with a rose-type design and inscribed around the edge SHANNON / JUNE 13 1813 -- 3½in. (9cm.) diameter, H.M.S. Shannon (Capt. Broke) defeated U.S.S. Shannon (Capt. Lawrence) in a short, bloody action of just 15 minutes on 1st June 1813. Lawrence was killed and buried with full military honours by the British and latterly Shannon was renamed St. Lawrence.
A pair of late 19th/early 20th century Chinese Export silver pepperettes by Wang Hing & Co.Each worked as a multi-tiered pagoda; together with a mother-of-pearl inset tortoiseshell snuff box; and a white metal group modelled as a pair of dachshund puppies. The former 7.5 cm high. (4) CONDITION REPORTS: One pepperette with slight loss to finial, the other slightly misshapen. Snuff box with old repair to cover, dachshunds generally good.

A small collection of decorative items including a ginbari cloisonné vase, enamel decorated tot cup, a blotter, snuff box decorated with a hunting scene, reproduction letter clip, etc. CONDITION REPORT: Small enamel vase scratched. Gimbal: light surface scratches. Overall, most of the items appear to be in good condition.

CONDITION REPORT: Hallmark slightly obscured, slight surface scratching, otherwise good condition.
