A late 19th/early 20th century Austrian silver snuff box, the hinged lid with enamelled scene of three finely dressed society ladies at the opera, the panel edged with a repeating foliate border, the sides and base engine-turned, the parcel gilt interior stamped with maker’s mark ‘A*K’ and the Diana head hallmark incorporating the town mark code for Vienna and fineness mark for ‘900’ standard, dimensions 9.0 x 6.1cm. £500-£600 --- The ‘Diana head’ hallmark was in use between 1872-1922. The letter ‘A’ denotes Vienna, the fineness number ‘2’ denotes 900 fineness.
