A fine armorial silver mounted ivory snuff box, the ivory lid engraved 'John Haldane Esqr of Lanrick 10/6/ 1693' the silver mounted lid engraved with a cypher surmounted by a stylised thistle and crown with a crossed sword and sceptre, silver armorial discs on either side engraved with coats of arms, the base ring with later engraved name 'Charles Wilson Surgeon Glasgow' and thistles with engraved sun and crescent moon with latin inscription on the base plate.3 1/2 inches high x 3inches diam. a plain silver mounted horn snuff box .2 inches diam.{2}

Gold and enamel snuff box, Austrian, 19th century, oblong shaped, the hinged cover with a central parcel enamel scene painted with two women beneath a tree in an Italianate landscape, within a heavily chased border of rococo shells, flowers and trellis, the base with similar border and crosshatched panel, the sides with floral scroll decoration, the inside of the lid set with a bevelled mirror. Marked on the flange with shield and maker's mark BB.
