19th century brass, oval-shaped snuff box with hinged cover and engraved decoration depicting figures and lion dog within scroll work. Probably Asian. 13 cm wide approx.(B.P. 21% + VAT) May have been repaired to the hinge in the past with white metal solder, otherwise no other damage. Wear and tear with age.

An early 19th century French bois durci snuff box, with gold inlaid decoration, the lid inset with a reverse painted glass panel of figures beside a river, tortoiseshell lined, diameter 3in.CONDITION: Overall in good condition, some slight discolouration to the underside with loss of some of the gold inlay around the foot rim and a small chip to the foot rim, internally very good.

Serrated edge for striking matches. 108 years old piece of history in attractive yellow and blue. Very good with tiny bit of cracking to enamel not affecting text.

The enamelled box is in good order. The little hinged pillbox with heavy dents and wear.
