A Victorian cut glass inkwell formed as a shamrock, with silver mount, lid lacking, Chester 1899, a tortoiseshell snuff box, button hook with silver ferule, clay RAOB pipe, a Common Prayer Book with a silver mounted front cover chased with cherubs, Birmingham 1905, silver manicure stand, Birmingham 1911, Victorian pocket compass, a Canadian leather postcard, cut glass salt with a silver rim, coffee spoon with a terminal showing a table tennis game, and a silver and turquoise enamel Swastika badge.
A MINER'S BRASS TOBACCO OR SNUFF BOX of elongated oval form, the lid impressed 'Fred Carr / Hitcher / Roseheyworth / For God Sake / Buy Your Own / 1909', 7.5cm wide. Note (1): Rose Heyworth Colliery, near Abertillery, was sunk in 1872 by the South Wales Colliery Company, and yielded its first coal two years later. In 1896 it employed 1625 men, working four seams, but by 1938 this figure had fallen to 804. The mine was closed in 1985. Note (2): A 'hitcher' was responsible for loading and unloading 'drams' (trucks) and men on and off the cage at pit bottom. He also signalled when the cage was ready to be moved.
An early 19th century silver plated mother of pearl mounted snuff box of rounded rectangular form, the central plaque engraved "William George", a George V hallmarked silver cigarette case, Chester 1922, approx 3.75ozt, a cased Ronson lighter and an unusual pewter chamberstick with integral owl vesta with hinged head and bell shaped snuffer (4).

CONDITION REPORT: Tight hinge and crisp locking action, some wear commensurate with age, some rubbing to the original gilt interior, but overall in good order.
A 19th century tortoiseshell card case with metal stud decoration, 10.5 x 8cm (af), and a 19th century horn and tortoiseshell snuff box, width 6.25cm (2). CONDITION REPORT: The card case has split down the spine where the hinge has sprung, a small area of loss to the corner of the lid, a few small surface scratches and hairline cracks. The snuff box has general wear commensurate with age, otherwise OK.
