A GEORGE III GOLD MOUNTED IVORY SNUFF BOX of cut cornered rectangular shape, the bright cut tablet to the lid initialled J, 9 x 4cm, a George III ivory toothpick box, the lid inset with a carved wax relief of a angler on a riverbank before a blue foiled ground, in gold frame and a French ivory box, the cover carved with fruit in an urn, all 18th c (3) Snuff box in good condition with some natural light yellowing of the ivory, toothpick box with slight damage to the narrow upstanding rim around the base, visible only when the lid is raised, also on the exterior damage beneath the hinge on the back. French box with tiny chip to the rear right corner edge of the cover and shallow graze along the front edge of the cover

Comprising a very fine George III silver inlay and ivory card case with fountain and bird design, a hinged basketweave carved box with reticulated anchor and rope on lid, a puzzle locking box with scrimshaw carved coat of arms and Union Jack, and a carved horn snuff box with exotic inlaid lid. The largest 4.125 inches (10.5 cm).

A Russian silver and niello oblong snuff box by Sergei Nazarov, Moscow 1891, assay master Anatoly Artsibashov (1891-96), 84 zolotniks, the cover with a view of a tower, the sides and base in a chequered design, 4.3cm (1 3/4in) high, 32g (1 oz). The tower depicted seems to be the Troitskaya Tower (Russian: ???????? ?????, literally Trinity Tower) which is the tallest tower of the Moscow Kremlin with a through-passage in the centre of the northwestern wall. Built in 1495-1499 by an Italian architect Aloisio da Milano (known in Russia as Aleviz Fryazin Milanets), the tower is now the main visitors` entrance into the Kremlin.

An unusual Victorian silver mounted deer slot table snuff box by George Unite & Sons, Birmingham 1878, the three quarter length hinged cover to a textured mount secured to the deer`s hoof, the interior gilt, engraved with a crest, 16.5cm (6.5in) long. The crest was recorded in 1905 for many families, including: ACHELEY, BAIRD, CAMPBELL, DANE, EDNOR, FETTYPLACE, GARDNER, HAGUE, JACKMAN, KELSHAW, LANSLEY, MANSFIELD, and many others.

The crest possibly for LOMBE of Norfolk.
