Henry Clarke by the Members of the Watt Institution...for this...Services...as a Scientific Lecturer...Dundee, 24th April 1837', 8.3cm x 5cm x 2cm high, Birmingham 1830, weight 4.4 ozs Some rubbing to highlights, otherwise good Note: The Watt Institute established in Dundee in 1824 'having for its object the affording to the working classes an opportunity of acquiring information at their leisure hours''. Rev Henry Clarke thought to be a Christian phrenologist from Chorley, Lancs, who is recorded as lecturing in Dundee to the Mechanics Phrenology Society in 1835 and more widely across Scotland (see Cooter [Roger] The Cultural Meaning of Science, published Cambridge University Press, 1984)
