A 19th century unmarked silver mounted olive wood snuff box Of serpentine form, with shell, C-scroll and fruiting vine silver mounts, the hinged lid inscribed to the underside Gethsemame 1846. 10.5 cm wide. Note: Gethsemane is an urban garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem. In Christianity, it is the place where Jesus underwent the agony in the garden and was arrested the night before his crucifixion. CONDITION REPORTS: Small split to top, splits and small losses to underside, general wear.
