An early Victorian novelty Irish souvenir buffalo horn snuff box, fashioned as a wild boar, the realistic box with fine detail, bone tusks, red bead eyes, protruding ears (that seem to be carved not applied) and carved snout, the top of box with hinged lid opening to reveal storage, the underside marked, 'KILLARNEY LAKES', which refers to the National Park in County Kerry, Ireland', 4 ½in. (11.5cm.) long. *Condition: in very good condition, with tiny chips to rear upper plate and main body edge, flat-head screws holding backplate cover with interior wood block, this is not a repair, done in construction.
A Continental silver snuff box, c.1800, with Austria-Hungary import marks for 1901-21, maker's mark HV, of convex rectangular form with chased decoration of a stag to the cover, engine turning to underside, gilt interior, 2 5/8 x 1 3/8in. (6.6 x 3.5cm.). *Condition: Decoration slightly rubbed but remains good. A few small, feint dings to ends and underside.
A small collection of novelty vesta cases and matchbox covers, the vesta cases comprising of a papier-mache ladies shoe; elephant head; pig; book; Japanese beehive with swarming bees in high relief; mixed metal version depicting a Japanese warrior; base metal version with spring loaded hinge with applied Knight on horseback; burr wood paint pallet, the covers to include a Tunbridge ware style version; Chinese cloisonné version and a metal version with horse in high relief, together with a mussel shell snuff box. (14) *Condition: mostly very good, the elephant with tusk tip broken, mussell shell with split, the others with age related wear to edges and corners.
