Two Chinese white metal filigree card cases, one with enamel(a.f.) & an Indian white metal snuff box, largest 91mm.CONDITION: Provenance - Alfred Theodore Arber-Cooke (c.1910-1993); thence by family descent. Arber-Cooke lived in Carmarthenshire, Wales and was an avid collector of European & Asian works of art and an author of the History of Llandovery. He was collecting from the 1940s to the 1980s.
A STUNNING SILVER POCKET SIZE SNUFF BOX BY SILVERSMITH A G WIGHTON OF EDINBURGH, engraved to lid 'The Grenadier Comp'y 4th Regt. N B (North British) Militia to Lieut. D Morison as a testimony of their esteem 27th April 1802', the box quite heavy with ribbed sides, machine tooled base and silver gilt interior, the maker's mark displayed three times on the box and three times on the inside lid, 4.2cm wide, 6.2cm long, 1.4cm deep.The absence of a Condition Report does not imply that a lot is without imperfections. Please note carefully the exclusion of liability for the condition of lots contained in the Conditions of Sale.In excellent condition throughout, the upper lid with light scratch marking due to use but in surprisingly good order, presumably having seen little or no use. Wighton is recorded as working in Edinburgh during the early half of the 19th century. Stamped 'AGW' with no further marks.
