Box:- Top:- Rather dirty overall , cinnabar rather dirty, some slightly rubbed areas One tiny loss triangle shape at edge of side panel and there is a slight surface chip on that corner, slightly rubbed at one other corner inside black sliightly scraped rubbed particularly in one corner Remnants of half old label, no script Hariline carved hardstone, narrow side to side Bottom:- Interior, two small bruises to edge rim, no obvious restoration or cracks Cinnabar - small scratches, rubs to surface, base scraped, painted letters CHINA

An 18th century tortoiseshell and silver snuff box oval form, the pressed tortoiseshell lid with silver overlay, depicting a hunting scene, 3in. (7.7cm.) long, losses to overlay; together with an Edwardian silver and tortoiseshell drum-form ring box, Deakin & Francis, Birmingham 1911, with silver pique work decoration, 2in. (5cm.) diameter. (2) Condition: - Snuff box: 2/3 of silver overlay to lid missing, with some consequent losses to silver edging. Small chip to tortoiseshell just under lid at left side. Hinge in good condition. No other damage noted. - Ring box: Engraved inscription, 'Ross Tournement 1912' to front. Two small dents to edge of lid and two dings beneath to side of lid and base. Kid leather lining (possibly replaced), leather to underside hardened from age and dented upwards. Legs, pique work and hinge in good condition.

(4) Condition: Laquered treen example has loss of inlay, some flaking and loss of laquer, badly rusted hinge, pewter example has knocks to underside as expected with use, dents to exterior commensurate with useage, 4 x 5mm filled repair to side, book example has wear commensurate with extensive use.
