Map of the County of Buckingham from an actual survey made in the years 1832 & 1833. A beautifully engraved, elegant map of Buckinghamshire by the brothers Christopher and James Greenwood. The map scale of 1 inch representing 3 miles allows for tremendous detail, including churches, castles, railways, heaths, turnpike roads, woods and rivers. A delightful vignette of Stowe House adorns the lower left corner. There is also an explanation table, compass rose and a numbered reference table to the various county "Hundreds". Davis, Leeds, a Silver Pair Cased Verge Pocket Watch, signed Jas Hall, Whitehaven, both cases with maker's mark IW and London hallmark for 1778, Four Other Wristwatches and a Plated Pocket Watch, (10)The compass case is discoloured with surface scratches, the enamel dial is dirty, doesn't appear to have any cracks, dial centre with small scratches, pointer appears to be moving correctly, outer fitted case with staining marks.
* LESLEY BANKS (SCOTTISH b. 1962), BIG MATCH DAY oil on canvas, signed and dated '89framedimage size 71cm x 95cm, overall size 94cm x 118cm Note: Born in 1962, Lesley Banks grew up in Denny, Stirlingshire. In 1980 she began a four year Degree course at Glasgow School of Art specialising in Drawing and Painting. After graduating she travelled and painted throughout Europe funded by an Elizabeth Greenshields Scholarship. In 1988 she became a gallery assistant in the Compass Gallery, Glasgow. Here, encouraged by Cyril and Jill Gerber, Lesley began to exhibit more of her artworks winning various prizes and awards, such as The 1991 Scottish Prize, Royal Overseas League London. This gave her the confidence to concentrate on painting full-time. In 1999 Lesley was appointed 'Artist in Residence' at Edinburgh Zoo where her popular ''Urban Zoo'' exhibition gained funding from the Scottish Arts Council. Since this time Lesley has exhibited throughout the U.K. and as far afield as Singapore and the USA. Works in public collections include Aberdeen Art Gallery, BBC Scotland, Motherwell District Libraries, Leicestershire Schools Collection, Lillie Art Gallery, Unilever, TSB Bank, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Perth Art Gallery and Museum.
East Germany, very large East Germany fabric flag, stitched design with attached round insignia. The flag features a coat of arms with a hammer, compass and wreath of wheat wrapped with a tricolour ribbon set in the middle of the black, red, and gold flag. The flag was used from 1959 to 1990, the design was adapted to combine the Weimar flag and Communism symbols. 233cm x 114cm.
