Rare Special Operations Executive (S.O.E) Shaving Kit Assassination Punch Dagger and Escape Razor Compass Set, travel razor kit which makes up with a concealed spike blade under the interior section of the case. Within the case is a plated Gillette razor blades container with two blades of different manufacture within, one of these being an escape compass type razor blade. The set remains in generally good overall condition. MI9 produced a number of concealed weapons and escape aids in everyday items of equipment such as pencils, pens, matchboxes, shaving kits etc. These were issued to S.O.E secret agents and resistance fighters working in occupied countries to silence guards or cause damage to Military vehicles etc.
Special Operations Executive (S.O.E) / Royal Air Force Escape and Evasion Matchbox Concealed Compass, interesting match box complete with matches. When the loose matches are removed it reveals a fixed card with a layer of matches on top, once this is removed a small stud / button compass is revealed, probably a small escape map would have also been present in the bottom. Set remains in good condition. MI9 produced a number of items similar to this and issued them to agents being dropped in enemy occupied territories. Idea being if discovered they would appear to guards that they were an ordinary box of matches. Items such as this were also often sent to prisoner of war camps in aid boxes etc.
WW2 Special Operations Executive (S.O.E) Message Container, small brass cylinder message container with screw off top. Accompanied by a battle dress button compass. (2 items) These small message containers were used to smuggle messages between SOE and resistance networks. They were produced in this shape so they could be easily concealed on the agent.
A Victorian gold belcher link watch albert,with looped jump rings between. A twisted wire 'T' bar with swivel clip to each end and an hinged gold compass fob. Milled sides with a circular bloodstone tablet to one side and raised gold monogram to the other. Compass and swivel clips marked 9ct. Tested as approximately 9ct gold. 50.96g

Victorian Royal Navy Lieutenant Commander's cased cocked hat & epaulettes. A fine black beaver skin example, to the left side a black silk rosette with a single twist loop mounted with a gilt Victorian button to the centre. The cocked hat is edged with one inch black lace; at each end, bullion tassels with blue lines. The interior is with leather sweatband and silk pleated lining. Tailor's label for J. Gieve & Sons ... Accompanied by full dress bullion epaulettes with silver bullion fouled anchor and Compass Rose indicating the rank of Lieutenant Commander ... Also a full dress leather sword belt with gilt clasp and two lines of bullion. The clasp with a post 1901 device. Housed in the original metal and velvet lined storage tin. This with painted name of "M.J. Parkes Buchanan" Bullion remains bright GC It appears that Captain Parkes Buchanan purchased his cocked hat set second hand as he was appointed a cadet in the Royal Naval Colleges Osborne and Dartmouth (1910 - 1913) , he was appointed a midshipman in the cruiser HMS Minerva on the outbreak of Great War. During the war he saw service onboard HMS WEAR on patrol and other duties in the Gulf of Smyrna and off the Dardanelles April 1915 to January 1916 and in the battleship HMS Agamemnon and by the end of the war commanded the sloop HMS Veronica. Remaining with the peace time Navy in 1939 he was serving as Deputy Inspector of Naval Ordnance, Home Fleet. During WW2 he held various shore postings and retired in 1949. He records are held by the Imperial War Museum.
