There are varying degrees of blooming apparent over the face and body.

Housed in the original wooden storage case with 1942 dated ink stamps to the interior lid. WW2 Royal Air Force Escape & Evasion Lighter with Concealed Compass, brass bodied lighter with RAF crowned insignia to the top. Lid pulls off to reveal lighter, body of lighter can be removed and a loose escape compass is in the bottom section, would have probably been better concealed when originally issued, not loose as it is currently.
