Pocket barometer showing the effects of damp, particularly inside the case and with some localised verdigris around the bezel, the silvered dial discoloured, registers a change in pressure (by blowing in a bag). Fish skin instrument case with a few paint splashes. The compass in good condition

An early 18th century circular oak cased mariners compass, made by George Adams, Fleet Street, London, lacking glass and pointer, also a late 18th century circular compass marked Var Lon 1798, with oak frame and glass, bearing label to the reserve, this compass formerly belonged to Lord Nelson, and was given to his pilot McKenzie, when the more improved ones came out and was purchased from his grandson in 1896 W H Nicholson. Coll., diameter 23cm and 21.6cm, also two copies of 'Adams of Fleet Street Instrument Maker to King George III' by John R Millburne ISBN no.0754600807 (4) (illustrated)
