Taylor Witness Survival Knife with chequered black handle, compass fitted to the middle of the reverse of the handle. Curved blade with Taylor Witness Sheffield England Patent 329566 stamped to the centre. Blade measures 13 ¼ cm. Complete with brown leather scabbard with belt loop attachment. Accompanied by a Redge Sheffield sheath / skinning knife with 10 ¾ cm blade, housed in the original brown leather scabbard. (2 items)
The John Wood Drawing Set - A fine set of 18th Century drawing instruments, the silver and fish skin case bearing the script 'John Wood, Architect' together with the Coat of Arms of this famous son of Bath. Dating from around 1745 the set comprises: white metal scale rule, white metal mounted ivory sector rule, compass, dividers, bow, two pens and a pencil, the two rules bearing the name of the maker Thomas Heath of London, there is one vacant aperture which would suggest that there is one piece missing, 13cm high John Wood Senior was born in Bath in 1704. His first important projects were the North and South Parades in 1728, followed by Queen Square, Prior Park (1735-48) and the Royal Mineral Water Hospital in 1738. Of course the developments for which he will forever be remembered are The Circus, completed in 1764 after his death by his son John Wood The Younger and The Royal Crescent 1767-76, executed by the younger Wood from his father's designs. His major works outside Bath were both the Bristol and Liverpool Exchanges. He died in his home city in May 1754 Condition: The hinge has snapped and so the lid is not connected to the main case, there is one empty aperture where there may have been an instrument/ink phial, the crest panel has a few shallow knocks and the panel is lifting slightly, see images - **General condition consistent with age

An early 20th Century Dockyard Model of the single-screw Cargo Steamer S.S. Exford, built in 1914 by Bartram & Sons Ltd, Sunderland for the Tatam Steam Navigation Co. Ltd., Cardiff, 5886 tons, the hull painted in black over white, with single funnel, two rigged masts and four lifeboats, the wooden deck and hatches finely lined, with plated metal deck details including davits, winches, ship’s wheels, compass binnacles and Chadburn indicators, with maker’s plate on plinth below bow, in glazed mahogany case, 1570mm long, 410mm deep and 490mm high; on July 14th, 1917, S.S. Exford, on a voyage from New York to Cherbourg with a cargo of steel & oats, was sunk by the German submarine U-48 (Karl Edeling), 180 miles WxS1/2S of Ushant (Ouessant), and six crew were lost
A 19th century French gilt brass mantel clock. Surmounted by a Classical maiden charting a globe with a compass and with a relief figure of Cupid gazing through a telescope. With enamel dial having Roman numeral markers and housing an eight day movement with silk suspension and striking half hourly on a bell. Raised on a marble plinth over toupie feet, 37cm high. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Sold with key and pendulum. Running. Females upper torso and globe pedestal loose, need tightening from underneath. One foot loose. Hair cracking to 12 o clock on the enamel dial and slight chips around the winding holes.
An early 20th century brass cased compass, stamped R W Starkey, maker Troughton & Sims of London, in original stitched leather outer case Condition Report / Extra Information Worn to the brass outer case but in working order. Scratched and worn to leather outer case, with some stitching missing. Strap almost worn away.
