A George V Border Regiment dress sword, to Captain H. Campbell 5th Batallion, with leather mounted scabbard, a C&R Brinsley First World War cased compass and First World War Verners Pattern compass in leather case stamped "C&R Brinsley 1916" inked "JG Monaghan 5th Border Regiment and a pair of Lemaire Paris cased field glasses marked "WH Whisson 1918" (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The scabbard is in generally good order with minor surface scuffs and blemishes particularly at the tip. The stitching appears to be generally good. The leather hanger is a little worn around the button hole and there are cracks across the top finish surface but no breaks. The hand guard is a little tarnished both front and back. The Shagreen grip is a little worn but all intact as are the wires. The blade is in generally good condition. It is not bent or warped and there is minimal rusting and discolouration. The compass is in good original condition. It appears to operate. The case is rubbed in places and there are stress marks and cracks to the circular back circumference. The case is a little scuffed but serviceable with no losses. It is linked to Monajhan. The binoculars case is again in generally good order with the usual scuff marks and wear to the belts and straps. The binoculars focus and seem to operate as they should. They are in generally good condition with only minor surface blemishes to the leather.
