I opera: Prima edizione di questo pamphlet che il vescovo barnabita Giacinto Sigismondo Gerdil compose in lingua francese, affidandovi il suo pensiero contro le giustificazione etiche del lusso. Il clima in cui maturò lo scritto di Gerdil, negli anni in cui era precettore dei figli del principe ereditario Vittorio Amedeo, è quello della depressione economica successiva alla guerra dei Sette anni e si pone come una critica alla politica sabauda di sostegno al lusso. L'Autore, pur facendo largo ricorso a princìpi già assodati senza rivendicare particolari originalità, si inserì nel dibattito contemporaneo sulla materia in maniera feconda e innovativa, svecchiando molte delle posizioni tradizionali di matrice cattolica. Lo scopo era distinguersi dai predicatori tradizionali senza rifiutarne le basi di dottrina morale, bensì argomentandole con il ricorso ai ragionamenti dei philosophes. Parte dell'opera consta di una critica testuale puntuale di alcuni passaggi all'Essai politique sur le Commerce di Jean François Melon (1734) sul tema del lusso. II opera: Prima edizione di questo trattato di Cerutti, scrittore e politico francese di origine italiana che aderì alle idee e istanze rivoluzionarie. L'opera appartiene alla produzione giovanile dell'autore, quando, negli anni del noviziato nella Compagnia del Gesù, partecipò a diversi concorsi indetti da accademie di provincia in modo da diffondere e far conoscere i suoi scritti. Risale al 1763 l'opera che gli valse l'appoggio del Duca Stanislao di Lorena e l'inizio di una fortunata carriera, l'Apologie generale de l'institut et de la doctrine des Jesuites. A fair copy, abrased the covers with some small damages on the corners.First edition of this pamphlet that the Barnabite Bishop Giacinto Sigismondo Gerdil composed in French, trusting his thoughts against the luxury ethical justification. The climate in which he developed the script, in the years when he was tutor to the children of Crown Prince Vittorio Amedeo, is that of the subsequent economic depression in the Seven Years' War and stands as a criticism of the Savoy policy in the support to the luxury. The Author, while making extensive use of principles already congealed without claiming original property, took place in the contemporary debate on in a fruitful and innovative way, erasing many of the traditional positions of Catholic. The aim was to distinguish itself from traditional preachers without refusing the basics of moral doctrine, but arguing with recourse to the reasoning of the philosophes. Part of the work is a textual critic on some passages of all'Essai politique sur le Commerce by Jean François Melon (1734) on the luxury theme.II work: 8° (195x125 mm). 56 pages. Edizione originale di quest'opera - dedicata a Sisto V - che delinea storia e percorsi dell'ordine e della spiritualità francescana, redatta dal ministro generale dell'ordine, Francesco Gonzaga. Si tratta di uno dei testi fondamentali per l'ordine e degno di nota è il fatto che sia tra i primissimi, se non il primo in assoluto, a tracciare con dovizia di dettagli le vicende degli insediamenti in America centrale e meridionale, in specifico in Brasile, Nicaragua, Perù, Messico, Cile, Guatemala, Saint Thomas e Santo Domingo. La Quarta pars tratta infatti delle Occidentalium Indiarum Provincias e per la compilazione Gonzaga si servì di precise fonti dirette a lui contemporanee come - nel caso di alcuni territori della Nuova Spagna - della Relacion de la descripcion de la provincia del sancto Evangelio di Jerònimo de Mendieta, Pedro Oroz e Francisco Suarez, datata 1585. It is one of the fundamental text for the order and worthy of note is the fact that is among the first, if not the first ever, to trace in great details the events of the settlements in Central and South America, specifically in Brasil, Nicaragua, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Guatemala, Saint Thomas and Santo Domingo. Esemplare in ottimo stato di conservazione, sporadiche lievi fioriture.Prima e rara edizione della parte storica della grande opera dell'economista Lodovico Bianchini, che verrà completata, in maniera autonoma, dall'omonima edizione del 1855. Il trattato elenca ed esamina gli autori di economia politica dall'antichità ai suoi giorni e in esso l'autore ripropone l'approccio genovesiano alla teorizzazione politica, volta a coniugare la vita felice e la felicità pubblica; proprio Genovesi con Serra, Galiani e Verri, viene lodato in ottica polemica con le scuole liberiste inglesi e francesi. Purtroppo per l'autore, però, l'economia era sì cresciuta, ma non nella direzione da lui auspicata: l'economia politica di chi faceva professione di liberismo ed esaltava gli automatismi di mercato - propria dei criticati Smith, Ricardo e Say -poco o niente aveva infatti in comune con l'economia civile di coloro che avevano coltivato - era segnatamente il caso di Genovesi- una scienza normativa all'insegna di un dirigismo illuminato. The writing lists and examines the authors of Political Economy from ancient times to his days and the author proposes the 'genovesiano' approach to the political theory, aims to combine the happy life and public happiness; as Genovesi like Serra, Galiani and Verri, is praised in a controversy optic with English and French liberalism schools. Unfortunately for the author the economy had grown, but not in the direction desired by him: the political economy of those who made profession of liberalism and praised the market automatism - as the criticated Smith, Ricardo and Say - little or nothing had in common with the civil economy of those who had cultivated - as Genovesi - a normative science in the name of an enlightened dirigisme.
