This charming oil on canvas is inspired by Danish artist Otto Bache's 1865 original painting Spaniel and Pug. Bache was known for his mastery in animal depictions and historical scenes. He gained recognition for his ability to infuse his subjects with a sense of life and movement, as seen in his works featuring domestic animals. This version features a beautifully detailed depiction of a Spaniel and a Pug resting in a rustic interior setting. The artist skillfully captures the distinct personalities of the dogs-the Spaniel, with its glossy black coat and gentle expression, and the Pug, seated proudly beside its companion, embodying loyalty and companionship. The warm, earth-toned palette highlights the rich textures of the setting, including a woven rug, wooden tools, and the sturdy, cozy atmosphere of the interior. Housed in a gilded frame. Artwork dimensions: 23.50"L x 19.50"H. Frame dimensions: 30.50"L x 26.50"H x 2"W.Artist: After Otto Bache (Danish 1839-1927)Issued: 20th centuryDimensions: See DescriptionCountry of Origin: DenmarkCondition: Age related wear.
