A. 13567 (The ‘A’ stands for alternator fitted)Automobile Association Combinations used to be a common sight on British roads giving assistance to the motoring public. First used in 1919 the ’Mechanical First Aid Outfits’ as they were known as then, carried tools, fuel and spare parts to assist the stranded motorist. They also warned drivers of the presence of Police speed traps. Chater-Lea and Triumphs were the first manufacturers used but BSA soon became the standard outfit with M21s being specially built for sidecar work. This bike is a replica AA combination, assembled from parts for display in a private collection and uses a very well-made replica box sidecar sourced from the AA museum that was specially made for the 1968 BBC comedy sitcom ‘The Last Salute’. The owner at the time maintained and used the vehicle from 1999 on a private estate until mid-2006 when it was sold to the current owner who again used it sparingly and kept it as part of a large collection and it is now being sold as part of the deceased estate. The bike has not been run for some time.Comes with – a current V5C, a large history file, a description of the TV programme and a Bonhams auction description from approximately 2006/07.
