dating: mid-19th Century provenance: Germany Octagonal, rifled, 12 mm cal. barrel of fine damask, slightly bell-mouthed at the nozzle, signed "V. CHR. SCHILLING IN SUHL" in gold, provided with precision foresight. Rectangular frame featuring fine engravings; depicting on a side the effigy of a soldier with his crossbow, at the top a man by a fire in the highland and another man spying him (a bandit?) hidden behind the rocks, the rest decorated with floral motifs; on the right side a blued lever opening the loading gate hammer placed at the lower part with safety lock. Grip of briarwood carved with masks and floral motifs framing the checkered area, trigger guard with curl and finger support engraved with floral motifs, iron butt-plate with drum with cover decorated with the effigy of a man with crossbow. Briarwood removable butt engraved en suite, with iron mounts engraved with floral motifs. In a fruitwood case lined with green cloth; complete with all tools and key.Valentin Christoph Schilling is known because of the outstanding quality of his works. See "Der Neue Stoeckel", vol. dating: third quarter of the 19th Century provenance: England Heavy, rifled, blued, round, 13 mm cal. barrel, checkered at the rib, signed "E.M. REILLY & CO OXFORD St.T LONDON", with adjustable rear-sight and foresight; backward spring lock, finely engraved with floral motifs, receiver and mounts en suite; a lever under the receiver; wooden stock checkered at the neck and palm rest, wooden fore-end. In a wooden case covered with linen and lined with blue cloth, some tools. dimensions: length 113.5 cm.
dating: 1875-1890 provenance: England Rifled, round, blued, 11 mm cal. barrels, signed "ALFRED LANCASTER 27 SOUTH AUDLEY S.T GROSVENOR SQR.E LONDON", with checkered rib, adjustable rear-sight, foresight; backward spring lock, engraved en suite with the frame and signed "ALFRED LANCASTER"; checkered wooden stock and fore-end, with iron mounts engraved en suite. Leather case with red cloth lining, label and tools. dimensions: length 113.5 cm.
dating: circa 1800 provenance: India Long, straight, double-edged blade of fine damask, the tip strengthened and ribbed at the center, the first part featuring deep grooves and raisers; iron hilt of typical shape, finely inlaid with gilt floral motifs, the quillon crossbar of triangular shape and featuring Hindi writings. Wooden scabbard with red velvet covering (damaged and artially worn) with silver chape and pockets to keep several, missing tools. Very scarce. dimensions: length cm.
Penrhyn House, a large and unusual G & J Lines dolls’ house with coach house and pull-out garden, circa 1895, the exterior painted cream, with brick papers to corners and sides, the eaves with gilded timbers, a central pillard front door, four windows, on the first floor central French windows leading to a semi-circular balcony, detachable steps lead down to the front or a balustraded garden, to the left is similar coach house with first floor accommodation, lift off roof and lift off 1st floor, the main house front opening to reveal four rooms, hall, stairs and landing, connecting doors and original papers and attic room, extensively furnished including nine bisque shoulder-head dolls in original clothes, eleven piece lithographed paper marquetry design drawing room set, gilt metal pieces including a pier glass and table, what-not, dog kennel with wax spaniel, fender, toilet mirror, clock with candle garniture and twelve pictures, soft metal bronzed corner shelf, four blonde wood dinning chairs with upholster silk heart shaped backs and seats, a gilt and bronzed soft metal half tester bed and miniature tools - 42in. (107cm.) wide 411?2in. (105.5cm.) high 291?4in. (74cm.) deep with garden open - Provenance - purchased in the 1960s by the present owner from the estate of Lord Penrhyn and comes with a letter of provenance from Lord Penrhyn’s sisters. The house also appeared in Kay’s Desmond’s 1972 book Dolls & Dolls’ Houses and comes with a signed copy, it also appeared in a 1980s advert for Woolwich Building Society (some slight restoration and wear)
