A Victorian papier mâché sewing cabinet, of serpentine form and enclosed by a pair of doors, inlaid and painted with flowers and foliage framed by gilt strapwork, the interior with a fitted tray, three graduated drawers and a writing drawer below, all richly gilt and retaining a quantity of mother of pearl needlework tools and other items, including a Palais Royal fan shaped aide memoir, hardstone eggs and an ivory fan, 29cm h, 33 x 27cm, printed retailer's label of CHARLES NEPHEW & CO SUCCESSORS TO PITTAR & CO JEWELLERS &C OLD COURT HOUSES ST, CALCUTTA In very good, entirely original condition with only light wear to the gilding on the exterior and that chiefly confined to the lid, the interior in a brilliant state of preservation. Great Variety of Rolling Carriages, According to Act of Parliament, and also Garden and Land Rollers of a New Construction, are Ready for Inspection; and are Built by James Sharp, No. 15, Leadenhall-Street, London, n.d., c. 1770, single sheet printed to one side, double-column text consisting of instructions for new owner-drivers, with large woodcut printed above, approx. 205 x 220mm, contained in modern purpose-made portfolio. James Sharp (d. 1783) was a leading manufacturer of road and field waggons, farm tools and machinery and 'American Stoves'. He published at least three trade catalogues in the 1770s & 1780s. He had a large manufactory in Tooley Street, Southwark. (1)

A Meissen group of five shepherd children circa 1880 modelled as a central girl holding flowers in her apron leaning against a column whilst standing on a rocky mound, surrounding her are two boys and two girls, the boys each with a sheep, one girl resting her head with a dog jumping up at her, the other girl with tools in her hands, the circular base moulded with a formal border of acanthus and rectangular lobes heightened in gilt crossed swords in underglaze-blue, incised G13, impressed 163, painted numerals 56 in black 17.8cm., 7in. minor damage and typical losses A similar model is illustrated in Preisverzeichnis der Koniglich Sachsische Porzellan-Manufactur in Meissen, 1904, pl.2. This group forms a pair with shape number B24.
A battery operated tinplate Mickey Mouse on hand car by TM Modern Toys, approx 8” long, by 9½” high, garden tractor style vehicle in blue with litho garden scene detailing, tools and controls, small ‘wicker’ style blue basket to rear, with large Mickey Mouse wearing lime green dungarees and red short and boots, with rubber head, bump and go action, boxed with packing. A patinated bronze figure entitled 'Jacquard', cast from a model by Jean Baptiste Germain circa 1900, the gentleman in standing pose wearing three-quarter length jacket and breeches holding the tools of his trade, on square base signed to rear left-hand corner, 56cm high. Joseph Jacquard was born in Lyon 1752 in 1801 he invented the automatic loom operated by binary punch cards. This bronze was probably cast to commemorate the centenary of his invention. The punch card system was later to inspire Babbage whilst working on his first computer.
