An exceptional late 18th Century French gold and enamel scissor etui and thimble in fitted leather case, the scissor case of triangular tapering form with blue enamel ground one side decorated with a flowering vase in white and gold over a gold flower spray, the other with white ground panels united by flowers and leaves with a black painted panel of tree and birds over an oval panel inscribed 'Uni a Toi', and a tapering panel of gold flowers. The tools comprising a pair of steel bladed gold mounted scissors, with ball mounted pierced arms below oval loops, a gold bodkin with 'T' shaped slot and a gold bodkin / earspoon with engraved decoration and faceted bowl.
