20th century AD. A mixed group of folding pocket knives comprising: one with red scales, large locking knife blade, two bottle-opener/screwdriver blades, corkscrew, removable tweezers and peg; one similar, blue scales, additional tools; one similar, aluminium frame and clear scales; one military issue plain steel with one large blade and one bottle-opener, marked 'RBS 1954 CC1286' and War Dept arrow; one small with blue scales, blade and snippers; one similar, red scales, two blades. 464 grams, 7-11cm (2 3/4 - 4 1/2). From an old Hampshire collection. [6, No Reserve]. Fine condition.
dating: about 1855 provenance: Belgium, Group of eighteen round, smooth, turn-off, 7 mm cal. barrels, in damask, arranged in two rings, the external ones are numbered from 1 to 12 and with Liege test-bed stamp; oval frame engraved with floral motifs, bottom hammer with ring-shaped trigger, butt with wooden grip scales grooved and embossed, band signed 'MARIETTE BREVETE' and engraved en suite. In its original, wooden case with brass mounts and inlays, lined with red velvet and complete with powder flasks and tools. length 21.5 cm.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Belgium, Round, smooth, turn-off, 10 mm cal. barrels, in fine damask, with longitudinal micro grooves; oval frames with lock plates shaped as an eye, browned and engraved with floral motifs and provided with Liege test-bed stamp. Foldaway triggers, black wooden butts with iron, engraved butt-plate. In their wooden case, lined with eggplant color velvet, with tools and key. length 14 cm.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: London, Octagonal, rifled, 11 mm cal. barrels, in fine damask, marked 'LONDON', with fore-sight engraved with rays; rectangular frames signed 'EGG' and 'LONDON', engraved with floral motifs, with upper rear sight and bottom cock; wooden, micro-rifled butts, iron engraved trigger guards, butt-plates with alpaca wool primer cases and shields on the back with owner's monogram 'AC'; in their wooden case lined with green cloth, 'D. Egg Gun Patent to his Majesty' label on the lid. Tools in the case, such as powder flask, multi-purpose tool, screwdriver, key and other. length 28 cm.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Bern, Heavy, octagonal, rifled, 10 mm cal. barrels signed 'Wagner a Berne', with engraved base, precision fore-sight; tangs engraved with floral motifs and provided with rear sight; forward spring lock engraved en suite. Briar root stocks with fore-end cap embossed with floral motifs and grooved butts; iron, engraved mounts; trigger guards with finger support; set trigger. In their wooden case lined with green fabric and provided with tools. length 40 cm.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Czechoslovakia, Octagonal, rifled, finished, 11 mm cal. barrels, signed in gold 'FIBICH', base finely engraved with floral motifs and with gold frame, fore-sight; tang engraved and with monogram in gold 'FL' in Gothic letters. Backward spring lock finely engraved with floral motifs and marked 'OLMUTZ', counter-plates of the same shape as locks (rare) engraved en suite and signed 'FIBICH'. Wooden stocks (small cracks and restorations) with micro-checkered butts, iron mounts decorated en suite, browned trigger guards. In their original, wooden case, lid with octagonal, silver shield featuring 'FL' monogram under the five-pointed crown, border decorated with geometrical inlays, lined with green cloth inside, with tools, in particular a horn powder flask, brass primer case, brass powder measuring cup with browned iron scale and horn handle. Missing key. length 21.5 cm.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: London, Smooth, octagonal, 12 mm cal. barrel, finished and damascened, signed 'IN.o MANTON & SON', fore-sight; forward spring lock signed 'MANTON & SON PATENT', with safety lock and frame at the border. Wooden stock with checkered grip. Smooth, iron mounts. Brass-tipped wooden ramrod. In its wooden case covered with bordeaux velvet with label Manton provided with some tools. Lock and key missing. length 27 cm.
dating: about 1845 provenance: Milan, Pistol with octagonal, rifled, turn-off, 8 mm cal. barrel, in damask, with fore-sight; iron frame and opening richly engraved with floral motifs, under - lever with safety lock for block rotation for loading, above the signature 'COLOMBO MILANO PATENTATO. Wooden butt with checkered grip and iron mounts finely engraved en suite. Trigger guard with finger support. The pistol turns into a carbine using a long, turn-off barrel and with a wooden removable butt with checkered grip. Everything in the original, wooden case lined with bordeaux velvet together with tools. length 42 - 100 cm.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: London, Nice, smooth, round, finished and damascened, 17 mm cal. barrels, rib signed 'John Manton and Son Dover Street', base engraved, silver fore-sight; engraved tang, forward spring locks marked 'John Manton & Son Patent' finely engraved with hounds, birds and floral motifs. Wooden, half stock with checkered grip and iron mounts finely engraved en suite. Wooden ramrod with brass mounts. In its wooden case lined with green cloth with Manton label, complete with tools and key. length 118 cm.
