A William IV rosewood necessaire, the hinged lid enclosing a fitted interior with tray enclosing four pairs of scissors, and other stainless steel and white metal tools, etc, length 18cm. Additional InformationExternally with general light age wear scratches and marks consistent with age, but nothing heavy or serious. Internally generally clean and bright with only light wear and some fraying.
Incl.: 5 tools w. finely turned wooden handles, all ending in a brass holder with variously shaped tips made of different kinds of (translucent) stone; 1 similar tool with iron tip, all approx. 37 cm in length; 3 tools w. curved brass surfaces for ornamental borders; 2 tools ending in sm. brass dec.; 1 other tool w. large wooden handle (total length 53 cm); 1 other tool w. unknown purpose, all w. orig. wooden handles; and 2 pairs of iron compasses, kept in old wooden box.A fine collection of very rare orig. bookbinding tools, probably late 19th/ early 20th cent. 3 of the larger tools are marked "Wilh Leo Stuttgart" on the brass fittings. With: Orig. antique set of several hundred brass ornamental lines and sm. ornaments for bookbinding, various sizes, kept in the original box, and w. orig. adjustable brass tool w. wooden handle for carving the lines. Added: later electric bookbinder's tool produced by L. Berens.
Two rustic kitchen tools consisting of a sycamore squeezer or masher with single handle and on four splaying legs, 46cm high; together with a rustic large sized mandolin or slicer with oak frame and steel blades, 130cm wide overall (2)The masher in good used condition considering age. The mandolin with split down the centre, possibly continental, with signs of old woodworm to the pine sliding box.
