A box of assorted metal ware to include a set of three 19th Century steel fire irons, various light fittings, a pair of fire dogs, etc. CONDITION REPORTS Set of three fire tools only: Shovel has been repaired and braced, is quite rusty and thin at the end. Poker is bent out of shape and the tongs appear to have something missing from the central rivet area. All rusty and in need of a clean - see images for more detail.
A Glyphography Folding Desk, English, mid 19th Century, unsigned, French polished mahogany case opens to reveal a fold up mahogany frame that holds the wax covered copper plate, underneath are various tools, in the lis are other plates, width 28cm Note: Cerography or glyphography is a printmaking technique related to engraving, using a layer of wax over a metal substrate. After the image is engraved into the wax, a positive plate is produced through stereotyping or electrotyping. This plate can be used with conventional letterpress equipment. The technique remained popular to the end of the 19th century but was gradually pushed out by photoengraving
