The whole being practically and very intelligibly laid down, with necessary questions in astronomy. Being the second part of the whole art of navigation, first edition, tables and diagrams, title with short tears to gutter, occasional browning, bookplate removed from title verso, lacking front free endpaper, contemporary red panelled morocco, richly gilt with acorn, floral and foliage tools, all within three sets of triple filet borders, spine in compartments, each with a single floral tool, extremities rubbed, cracking to joints, [Tomash & Williams N27], 4to, for Richard Mount , 1701.⁂ First edition of this second part of Newhouse's The Whole Art of Navigation. The unnumbered leaves at the end of this book contain James Atkinson's A Triangular Canon Logarithmical: or a table of artificial sines, tangents and secants. The Naval Binder used a small parrot head stamp, very similar but not identical to this stamp.
Cased Liege pin-fire six-shot pocket revolver of small bore, late 19th Century, of characteristic form, the frame and cylinder engraved with foliage, the two piece grips are of ivory, folding trigger, round barrel 8.5cm, the breech engraved Syt. Letaucheux, the gun retaining most of its deep blue finish, in its close fitting leather lined case with ivory tipped cleaning rod, turn-screw with fluted ivory handle, bullet mould, and oil bottle Condition: Light scratching present on wooden case, lock on box appears to be functioning, the leather lining of the box appears to be in overall good condition although having some scratches in places as well as wear. Some of the ivory mounted tools showing small signs of cracks in places, and general wear. Pistol showing signs of light scratching in places, with general detailing appearing to be good. Would advise viewing in person prior to bidding. **General condition consistent with age

Bondy as 'one of the most delightful early volumes'. Illustrated with 63 charming woodcut illustrations, it mostly comprises a list of single words, with occasional short phrases ('A Beaver has soft fur', 'Never play with edge tools'), and a section after p.155 devoted to 'Names of People, Trades, Etc.', such as 'Alderman, African, Artist, Butcher, Broker, Banker..'.
