Great Eastern Railway coach makers tool chest, the purple painted exterior with hinged lid opening to reveal a foliate marquetry inlaid interior above eight sliding trays, six with drawers and two with hinged compartments, the lower section with well concealed by a sliding panel, the trays containing numerous hand tools to include planes, chisels, files etc. the majority stamped R. Sendall or E. Edwards, 94.5cm wide, 61cm high, 64cm deep.Provenance- This tool chest was a draw prize for the benefit of the widow of the late R.Sendall with tickets costing sixpence each, the draw took place on July 29th 1904 at King's Coffee Rooms, Shaftesbury Street, Derby. The winner of the chest was E. W. Edwards, an employee of Great Eastern Railway. The box comes with a folder containing the winning drawer ticket and numerous Great Eastern Railway documents relating to E. W. Edwards
