Mid 19th Century coromandel and mother-of-pearl inlaid needlework box by Toulmin & Gale, the silk-lined interior fitted with a removable tray housing original mother-of-pearl and ivory tools over compartment containing an assortment of mostly early 20th Century needlework and accessories, 30.5cm x 22cm x 13cmCondition report: Overall very good. Horizontal split to the cover and narrow vertical section of wood missing from rear right-hand corner. Slight fading to silk interior commensurate with age.

He was a frequent visitor to these auction rooms, an elegantly dressed, unassuming man who bought well and had a singular passion for old-school antiques.Condition report: Much damage and amateur restoration. Chelsea figure's hat has been repaired, head has been reaffixed to neck, vertical crack to torso, proper right arm has been reattached and there is extensive amateur restoration to the hand, two horizontal cracks to left leg, restoration to right leg and left foot, dog's ear has been repaired, losses to bocage, cracks, losses and generally much restoration to base etc. Derby figure - chips to hat, head has been reaffixed to the neck, right arm has been reaffixed, losses to gardener's tools, multiple losses to base, paint loss to plant pot etc.
