A .451 CALIBRE PERCUSSION WESTLEY RICHARDS MILITARY MATCH MONKEY TAIL RIFLE, 36inch sighted blued barrel fitted with rear leaf and ladder sights and engraved WHITWORTH LONDON, the left side of the breech with the serial no. 467, this repeated on the breech cover, bolted lock engraved WESTLEY RICHARDS & CO. over 1860, retains some colour, full stocked with chequered fore-end and wrist, regulation steel mounts, the butt with trap containing two cleaning tools. Good on FC and HC with clean bore. Hammer possibly replaced.
A CASED PAIRING OF A PERCUSSION 50-BORE DOUBLE RIFLE AND A 12-BORE DOUBLE SPORTING GUN BY WESTLEY RICHARDS, serial numbers 7188 and 7733, circa 1855, the rifle with multi-grooved 30in. barrels, broad flat top-rib signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS 170 NEW BOND ST, LONDON', small blade fore-sight and standing notch rear-sight with two additional folding leaves, the engraved head of a deer at rib-end, vented breech-blocks, engraved top-tang featuring the head of a big cat, borderline and scroll engraved signed bar-action locks, the right with a recumbent lioness, the left with a recumbent stag, engraved hammers with safety bolts, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist and with iron furniture including a chequered lower tang finger spur, oval escutcheon to the underside engraved with a sun above a wreath and brass tipped ebony ramrod (ramrod throat finial absent), the shotgun with 30in. barrels (signature rubbed but legible), platinum vented plugs at breech, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved signed locks, chequered walnut half-stock with iron furniture, the front of trigger guard bow originally fitted with an ebony palm-stop (removed but present) and brass mounted mahogany ramrod, in a two-tier trunk-style case adapted for these guns, Westley Richards trade-label inside lid and complete with a number of period accessories including a mould, flask and assorted tools and requisites.

DOUGALL, serial no. 2201, circa 1865, 26in. bold damascus barrels with starburst detailing around the pinfire apertures, broad matt rib with banner engraved 'J.D. DOUGALL. INVENTOR, & PATENTEE, 59 ST. JAMES'S ST. LONDON.', open sights and scroll-engraved folding leaf sights marked 100, 150 and 200, bead fore-sight, Dougall 'lockfast' patent action, patent no. 1128 of 7th May 1860, with rearward facing push-down large d-ring sidelever with side retaining catch (tail missing), carved serpentine fences, action face with protruding bosses with brass-lined vents, standing breech with further cylindrical stud (engages with a recess in lump), non-rebounding back-action locks with finely engraved bolted carved hammers, best border and fine scroll engraving, the action flats with 'PATENT LOCKFAST', the underside with a scrolling banner engraved 'J.D. DOUGALL'S PATENT LOCKFAST', 15in. figured pistolgrip stock with engraved steel pistolgrip-cap, sling eyes and including steel buttplate with matted finish and ropework bordering, fore-end with crosspin release, weight 10lb. 6oz., in its oak-lined leather case with gold-tooled trade label and various associated pinfire reloading tools including a Greenfield (London) patent brass 12-bore ball mould (numbered 2148), the lid outer initialled 'J.
