Exceptional Paper Quality.. Pick 6. MS64, PMG 1030113-001 This was an emergency issue of fractional notes to counter the shortage of coins in circulation. Because the designs looked like miniature carpets they were called “shtikhim,” the Hebrew word for carpet.

A Chinese carpet, the eau de nil ground decorated with basket and trailing flowers and foliage, 495 x 335cm, together with a Chinese style carpet, the eau de nil ground with central floral decorated medallion in cream, mustard, blue and pink, 360 cm x 270 cm (2) CONDITION REPORTS Overall with wear and dirt, some stains, some fading, but generally still a good amount of pile.

A pair of Tabriz rugs, the centre burgundy medallion within a blue floral decorated ground within blue, burgundy, terracotta and cream stylised floral decorated borders, 196 cm x 139 cm each CONDITION REPORTS Both heavily worn, and faded, with pile worn away and structure showing, some "stringiness", losses to sides and ends. One carpet is particularly badly worn and is very 'stringy' particularly to the centre area and to one end.

A Caucasian rug, the central panel set with repeating floral sprays on a dark blue ground within a stepped blue, green and pink floral decorated border, 201 cm x 147 cm. CONDITION REPORTS Quite heavily worn particularly to the centre area, with the pile worn down so that the white/cream structure of the carpet shows through, generally with some wrinkling, mis-shaping, losses to ends and fringing, some variations to colours.

A Caucasian rug with repeating elephant foot medallions on a dark blue ground, 195 cm x 128 cm, together with a Caucasian carpet, the three central blue medallions on a dark terracotta ground within dark blue, terracotta, peach and cream geometric patterned borders, 295 cm x 212 cm CONDITION REPORTS Both with wear and dirt. The smaller rug appears to have quite a good dense pile, colour appears reasonably good and there is a good amount of pile, losses to fringing. The larger rug is very worn, wrinkled and misshapen, losses to sides and ends, structure showing, some splits and stringiness.
