Sword: An interesting 18th Century small sword single edged blade 32". Brass stirrup hilt with ball/bun pommel. Brass fixed shell guard. Forward quillon broken off at the cross guard. Felt/carpet type grip. Blade decorated with stand of arms. R.H. side with double headed eagle & crown lacks scabbard. Twin narrow fullers to top of blade. Blade tip rounded. Viewing recommended. Ushak carpet, West/Central Anatolia, the soft raspberry field of stylised flowerheads around an indigo hexagonal medallion framed by pistachio green spandrels and indigo meandering vine borders, 482cm by 337cm Ends both complete to outer guard stripe. Selvedges original but showing their age. Pile fair. Foundation visible in areas. Tiny area of old flat stitch repair.
Anatolian carpet, probably Sivas, the ivory field with a one way design of wild animals and birds within a wooded landscape enclosed by floral borders, 356cm by 246cmBoth ends complete. Both with minor damage to webs. Selvedges original and complete but with one cut into guard stripe approx 4cm deep. Areas folded and curling. Pile generally fair/good, but some areas of old moth damage. 180216
