Mahal Carpet of unusual size West Iran, circa 1940 The brick red field with an all over design of large flower heads enclosed by charcoal borders of samovar motifs and multiple guard stripes, 320cm by 330cm. One end with slight fraying. Selvedges with some fraying. Pile generally good/fair. Some old inactive moth.
Heriz Carpet North West Iran, circa 1920 The blood red field of angular vines and stylised flower heads around an indigo medallion framed by ivory spandrels and indigo serrated leaf and rosette borders flanked by guard stripes, 413cm by 340cm. . Both ends complete. Some fringes reduced. Selvedges, one complete, the other one with small tear into outer red guard stripe approx 5cm. Pile good fair. A few small spots where the foundation is visible.
