Intended to fill a gap in Ferrari's line-up between the four-seat 330GT 2+2 and the racer-on-the-road 275GTB, the 330GTC was essentially a closed version of the 275GTS and Pininfarina's understated coachwork combined elements of the latter at the rear, with touches of the 500 Superfast at the front. It was a spectacularly good looking car at the time and the passing five decades has done nothing to change that.The short (94.5" wheelbase) chassis followed Ferrari's established practice of tying together sturdy oval-section main tubes in a steel spaceframe, whilst the suspension was independent all round by means of wishbones and coil springs. First introduced on the 275GTB in 1964, the rear suspension incorporated the five-speed gearbox in a transaxle, an arrangement that created more even weight distribution and a delightful handling balance.Beneath the 330GTC's elegant bonnet nestled the 4.0-litre, 300bhp version of Ferrari's familiar, twin-cam, 60-degree V12, as used in the 330GT 2+2 enabling 0-60 in less than 7 seconds and over 150mph in true V12 GT style.Much development work had concentrated on the reduction of noise levels in the cabin, which was luxuriously equipped in the best Gran Turismo manner: leather seats, electric windows and heated rear screen were standard; radio, air conditioning and Borrani wire wheels the options. With the ability to cover ground so quickly, excellent ride comfort and sure-footed handling, Ferrari could justifiably claim the 330GTC to be the finest way for two people and their luggage to cross a Continent.According to its Ferrari Classiche ‘Vehicle Production Data’ sheet, Chassis number #11257 left Maranello in May 1968 bound for dealers Dino Ravasio & Figli in Verona and finished in Grigio Argento with a Pelle Nera Franzi leather interior. In common with many Ferraris in the seventies, it found a new home in America and, when we next hear of it in 2004, it was resplendent in a gleaming coat of Rosso Corsa. There is a Sale Invoice on file from Heritage Classics of Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood detailing the purchase of #11257 on March 30, 2004 (indicated mileage 19,595) by Hal Danby of Winthrop Hall, Sudbury and a copy of the Ownership Title is in the car’s history file as is an earlier Arizona Certificate of Title with the mileage at 19,116.The Ferrari arrived in the UK on 22/05/2004 and within the file, there are documents indicating that all Duties and VAT have been paid. Quite early in its stay, it was issued with a FIVA Identity Card which states that the car was built in 1966 when it was in fact 1968, easily corrected with the aid of the soon to arrive Classiche Certification.#11527 was to remain in the care of Mr Danby for the next 13 years and during this period no expense was spared in bringing this superb motor car up to this amazing standard. In addition to the normal maintenance and regular servicing inherent in Ferrari ownership, the car was fully retrimmed in Nero leather, new boot carpet and a new headlining fitted, all interior wood finishes, door cappings and the dashboard were restored and refinished, the Borranis were rebuilt and the spinners re-chromed, the carburettors were rebuilt, a new stainless steel exhaust fitted, the brakes rebuilt and the distributors were adjusted to suit the new electronic ignition. Over the years this attention amounted to over £30,000 and there are detailed invoices in the file from JDR, TDH Classics and Hoyle-Fox.In late 2017, the 330 became the property of our vendor and has been used lightly since with the odometer indicating 26,358 miles. With the car is an invoice from LM Supercars of Suffolk for £3,763.28 dating from 22/01/2021 relating to an extensive brake rebuild (callipers, pistons, master cylinder), fuel system drain and flush, ignition service (points, distributor, HT leads), oil and filter service with fresh fluids, a new Platinum battery and other sundry items to ensure that the car is ready for the sale.More importantly, however, is the news that #11257 has been fully inspected for official Ferrari ‘Classiche Certification’, the £8,400 account has been paid and the glorious ‘Red Box’ is expected any day now.This is a simply lovely example of one of the best looking cars in history. It has just enjoyed a day or two being mechanically prepared for the sale and another day being polished and detailed to within an inch of its life. Porsche Letter of Authenticity.Possibly the best original example available today.Inspired by the iconic 1950s Porsche 356 Speedster's unique low line look, Porsche introduced the Carrera 2-based Speedster as a concept at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was a two-seater based on the J-programme, ‘rubber bumper’ 911 and designed to relive the no-frills, top-down days of the original 356 Speedster. The new car was intended for “friends of open motoring,” as Porsche put it, and its roof was stored under a colour-coded polyurethane moulding on the rear deck, behind the driver and passenger’s heads. The seats were lower than normal, the aluminium-framed windscreen was raked back by five degrees and the side windows were frameless.The Speedster made it into production for one year only, 1989, and was available in two body styles: Turbo Look and standard, with the 935-style 'Slant-Nose' treatment available on either. 2,104 were built in total, primarily for Porsche’s two core markets, the United States and Germany and only a handful of right-hand drive cars made it to the UK.Performance from the 231bhp, 3164cc flat-six was well up to Porsche’s standards with a 0-60mph time of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of over 150mph. Porsche was confident it was now building a powerful, reliable engine for the 911 and, from 1986, was offering a five-year, or 50,000 miles warranty. The Speedster was the last 911 model built on the basic bodyshell of the original, 1963 911 and the final 911 produced at the old Zuffenhausen factory as the 964 that followed was built on an all-new production line.This ‘as new’ example is a very rare right-hand drive car that has only covered 4,347 miles(6,947 km) and was supplied to Porsche Australia and delivered to its first owner Lindsay Fox by Hamiltons of Melbourne on 17-08-1989. Finished in Grand Prix White with Marine Blue Leatherette/Blue leather inserts and a Dark Blue Hood, the optional equipment included the Turbo Look (491), short gear lever, alarm and velour carpet to the luggage compartment. In 2005, the Speedster was purchased by New Zealander, Paul Halford, at the the Lindsay Fox Sale when it showed just 3,475 km. In 2015, it was exported to the UK and, at that point, the service book showed four stamps from ‘down under’ up to 5,570 km. Since then, it has had three UK services, first with the Porsche Centre Hatfield at 5,932 km in 2015, Porsche Swindon at 6,233 km in 2017 and Hexagon at 6,704 km in 2019. There are now seven stamps in the service records corroborating the incredibly low mileage. Make no mistake, this Speedster is as close as you will get to rolling off the production line in the Summer of 1989 and it's a credit to the four previous owners who have kept it in this remarkable condition. They do not come any better. With its lightweight shell and decent handling, Ford’s engineers soon realised that the Cortina had genuine potential as a performance model and thus created the GT, by adding a Cosworth-tuned 1.5-litre version of the Kent four-cylinder engine, upgrading the transmission, brakes and suspension, installing a rev-counter to the steering column and extra dials in the centre console. The Cortina GT was soon selling in huge numbers as few cars could match its 95mph top speed or willing acceleration, at such an affordable price. Cortina GTs were homologated by Ford for rallying and notched up numerous wins in the mid-1960s, while the more potent Lotus version was developed for circuit racing.This delightful 1966 Cortina GT is a four-door example, finished in left-hand drive and exported to Switzerland where it has spent most of its life. It returned to the UK in 2016 and the registration number, UCA 487D was awarded by the DVLA in September of that year.There is a significant amount of history with UCA and naturally, most of that is in French or German, but we can see from the invoices that the car has been subject to a total nut and bolt restoration in France by Cedric Masier and Patrick Hugo around 2002 utilising “Genuine Ford Motorsport Period Upgrades”. It was rebuilt with a Lotus Cortina aluminium 4-speed, close-ratio box with Quaife internals (1-2.5, 2-1.66, 3-1.22, 4-1.1. Limited slip differential 3.9-1). It’s been set up with Lotus Cortina struts and dampers optimised for fast road use, Brembo discs, Girling pistons and Pagid fast-road pads.The engine is a GT pre-X-Flow with a big valve head, blueprinted, lightened and balanced with a Kent 244 cam fuelled by twin 45 Webers. Originally built by Burton Racing, there is an invoice in the file from Coltec Racing dated 22-12-2014 totalling £1,606 relating to a full engine strip, inspection, and rebuild including a new Kent 244 cam and followers and a repaint of the block in Holbay Green. It’s fitted with a competition clutch and a Race Stainless Steel exhaust (since changed).The interior was renewed back in 2012 and remains very smart with twin period-style bucket seats, Moto-Lita steering wheel, Brantz International Pro-2 Digital rally clock with remote, map light and Terratrip intercom with headsets. The GT continues to present really well in Ermine White with a distinctive Forest Green triple stripe and door roundels and the coachwork appears exceptionally straight remaining very tidy underneath. This is a good-looking period Rally Car and it’s classic appearance is enhanced by the silver alloys, Speedwell wing mirrors and four PIAA rally-spec front lights. We understand that the car has been enjoyed in light competition throughout Europe and even on the hugely challenging Monte Carlo Rallye and the Winter Raid it proved totally reliable.UCA was purchased by our vendor on 2/03/2019 and he informs us that during his ownership “I changed the silencer to make it less loud, changed the crown wheel and pinion from the 4.7 to a more roadworthy 3,9, fitted a new lightweight starter motor, renewed the interior carpet and soundproofing, changed the wheel studs so that it could take the Minilite wheels, fitted 5 new Revolution Minilites with new Toyo tyres, renewed the steering idler arm and associated bushes, and finally took it to a specialist to balance the twin Weber carbs.”Included in the large history files are technical articles, workshop manuals, vehicle manuals, the original ‘Carnet de Service’, magazine articles featuring this motor car, acres of invoices, the UK V5 registration document and much more. It's also supplied with six original steel rims with snow tyres.This not a weary, rally-rashed, Forest Ford but a delightfully presented Sixties sporting saloon that appears to have been cared for during its fifty years in Switzerland and certainly since it returned here in 2016.
