SET OF EIGHT REGENCY ROSEWOOD AND BRASS INLAID DINING CHAIRS BY WILKINSON OF LUDGATE HILL EARLY 19TH CENTURY the scroll backs with curved top rails and pierced splats inlaid with brass, over drop in cushion seats in modern yellow upholstery, raised on plain sabre legs, the frames stamped WILKINSON LUDGATE HILL, maker's initials JM and model 2801 (8) 45cm wide, 84cm high, 40cm deep Note: Joshua Wilkinson established a cabinet, upholstery, carpet and looking-glass warehouse in 1766 in Moorfields. By 1790 the firm was being run by his second son, William, in partnership with his cousin Thomas Wilkinson. Their partnership ended in 1808 when William left to take over the old established firm of Quentin Kaye at 14 Ludgate Hill. The company produced well-made pieces conforming to fashionable Regency design types and marked their furniture, usually with the impressed stamp `WILKINSON LUDGATE HILL'. From 1825 William was joined by his two sons, Williams Ascough and Charles, changing the name, and stamp, to Wilkinson & Sons, 14 Ludgate Hill. The firm continued to trade, under different names into the 20th century. A 19th century French Savonnerie Empire style carpet, with a central fan medallion decorated with laurel leaves and with a classical twin griffin flaming athénienne with an outer border of swags of flowers hung with eight musical instruments including lyres and a horn, with classical mask spandrels with palmette decorated headdresses, 490 x 439cm. Provenance: From the collection formed by the late The Hon Mrs Daisy Fellowes, Donnington Grove, Berkshire, ex. The Main Bedroom.

FILMER'S, CABINET, CHAIR UPHOLSTERY, BEDDING & CARPET MANUFACTORY, 32 BERNERS ST. OXFORD ST.', 93.6cm high, 183.2cm wide, 67cm deep.
VERY FINE NAIN PERSIAN CARPET, hand knotted with an all-wool pile, and having a centre medallion outlined in dark blue, detailed in pale blue on a very pale pink ground, the off white field decorated in the same colours the formal flowers and foliate scrolls, the principal border with a very pale pink ground and large floral meander pattern with six narrow guard stripes, 8'3" x 6'7" (together with the original purchase receipt from 2009 for £3550)
