1989 Ford Sierra RS CosworthReg. no. G381 KWJChassis no. WF0FXXGBBFKR01249Engine no. KR01249Transmission: ManualMileage: 72,000 In the early to mid-1980’s Ford had realised that their success in the world of rallying had dwindled after a very successful period in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Stuart turner, head of Ford Motorsport Europe and Walter Hayes, vice president of public relations at Ford at the time got their heads together and began to form the design and plan for the Ford Sierra. Throw in the mix the vice-president of Cosworth, Ken Kohrs and you have a potential cocktail of great automotive minds to ultimately produce the next generation of successful Ford engines in the form of the YBB turbocharged Cosworth. The 2nd version of the Sierra Cosworth remained in 2WD with a more sales friendly 4-door shell. Ford carried out extensive testing with the Sierra Cosworth, pre-production and as a result received reasonable success in both Group N and Group A form in rallying all over the world. The model was piloted by famous drivers such as Francois Delacour, Massimo Biasion and of course the legendary Jimmy McRae. With great motorsport success came brilliant public sales and the Cosworth was well received in both the UK and Europe. This original looking example is finished in Moonstone Blue and fitted with factory alloy wheels and radio; this iconic Ford is well presented with better than factory paintwork and stunning black leather interior with steering wheel, gear knob and carpet in near immaculate order. It boasts an engine bay that presents extremely well, with the stand-out red rocker cover and Garrett turbo mounted proudly next to the engine. The underside has also received restoration and has been protected for the future. With just two previous owners, restoration was carried out recently by a rallying family and this car sits on just 72,000 miles. This particular example is in absolutely fantastic condition and would complement any collection.A fantastic example that any blue oval or motorsport enthusiast would aspire to own. A current V5C document is included, old MOT’s, as well as original Ford manuals including the service book stamped up to 69,829 miles. There is also a vast number of parts and service receipts, many of which are from RS specialists, Castle Performance Engineering. The car would only benefit from re-trimmed front door cards and an MSD cooling fan harness as this seems to be currently intermittent.Estimate: £32,000 – 35,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on March 5th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU. 1948 Vauxhall VeloxReg. no. LYW 438Chassis no. LIP72450Engine no. TBCTransmission: Manual The Velox LIP 4 door saloon was powered by a newly developed 6-cylinder engine and cost £550 including taxes at first production. They were produced across the world from 1948-1951 in the UK, Switzerland, New Zealand and even Australia. This Velox was purchased purely for the use in a family member’s wedding and has seen little work since with the odd Sunday drive out and then put into storage when not in use. The blue paintwork presents well, accented by white wall tyres and chrome trim. The leather interior looks recently trimmed and features blue piping, complimenting the blue carpet. The engine seems to run smoothly although the column shifter linkages in the engine bay do needs some work as it does struggle to engage gears. With a little work this unusual British saloon car offers pre-war luxury in a post-war elegant saloon. The sale includes a current V5 along with some information about the model and a selection of spare parts.Estimate: £5,000 - 7,000To be auctioned along with a fantastic selection of other vehicles on March 5th at our Showell Farm site, SN15 2NU.
