A large turkey patterned carpet, early 20th century, typical pattern and colours. 369 cm (12' 2") x 588 cm (19' 3") (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This carpet is in extremely good condition. There is no fading and no significant wear to the pile. The bound edges are showing only very slight signs of wear and the same comments apply to the fringed ends. At some point the carpet has been cut at one end to accommodate something or other. The subsequent repair is first class and the repair is only visible from the underside.
A large Persian design woollen carpet, with centre rectangular panel and multiple line border, principal colours beige and blue. 420 cm x 300 cm including fringed ends (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The rug is in generally good order. There is no significant wear to the pile or any significant damage or staining. The fringed end to one side has a worn section (it was near a doorway in the house). This wear has only affected the tasselled fringed section of the edge but not the actual weave of the carpet itself. There is similar wear to the opposite side which again was close to the thresh of a doorway.
