Pale green field with jewelled floral centre medallion; all over scrolling Shah Abbas-style design; wide pale green floral main border and ivory floral guards, the ivory cartouche with inscription in the top outer ivory guard. A very soft palette; robust handle.

Sprays of flowers and foliage on a pale stone coloured field outlined ion pale green within a biscuit border around the central medallion; large vase of flowers in each corner. All over soft palette. Very finely woven in a soft palette with a soft handle.

Ivory field with all over vases of flowers and various birds; mid-blue mille-fleurs centre medallion and spandrels; pairs of birds in a reciprocal motif green and pink main border; yellow floral guards. Robust handle.

The canvas ground worked in gros point, ivory columns of small sprays of flowers; the narrow dividing stripes entwined with flowering tendrils; plain two-tone green border. Unlined.
Tekke Turkmen 5 x 11 gul main carpet, Turkmenistan, third quarter 19th century, 7ft. X 6ft. 3in. 2.13m. X 1.91m. Some wear in places with extensive repairs to the centre; small repairs and repiling in other places; localised weakness almost to holes; losses to ends. Where there is pile it is fine and velvety; the carpet as a whole has a soft handle.
Superb Yomut Turkmen dyrnak gul main carpet, last quarter 19th century, 11ft. 4in. X 6ft. 4in. 3.45m. X 1.93m. Overall even wear. The aubergine field with all over dyrnak guls quartered in pale blue and dark blue with pale yellow details; ivory main border of stepped medallions down each long side changing to the ovadan (curled leaf) motif at each end within narrow guards of tiny florets; each wide elem with diagonal rows of stepped medallions with contrasting centres. A most attractive carpet with splendid colour range in a soft palette. Velvety wool and soft palette.
Caucasian 'Kuba blossom' carpet fragment woven with the Afshan repeat pattern, second half 18th century, 11ft. 11in. X 7ft. 7in. 3.63m. X 2.31m. Overall even heavy wear; reduced in length at both ends; with joins, repairs and repiling entirely consistent with a carpet of this age. All over Afshan design on a dark blue field with a pale yellow floret border. Literature: Ellis, Charles Grant, Early Caucasian Rugs, p. 88 pl. 29 for an almost identical fragment; Bennett, I. Op.
