Only two registered keepers, just 28,000 miles and delightfully original. In 1980, an RS2000 Custom was an extremely aspirational purchase, with the distinctive polyurethane droop snoot front end and air dam, plus a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, SOHC, Pinto engine, offering 0-60mph in just 8.5 seconds and a top speed of 108mphThe key word to describe this car is originality, it still retains all the original body panels and glass and has been looked after extraordinarily well by its three owners from new The spare wheel and tyre are original and unused, as are the ashtray and cigar lighter and 1 key fits all the locks as when new.Supplied new to Breeze of Amble, Morpeth on 6-6-1980, the owner was the Managing Director of a Ford dealership and he immediately treated the car to an application of Dinitrol Acquired by our vendor 2014 and has been professionally stored ever sinceJust 28,250 miles from new, a figure that is corroborated by the car’s MOT HistoryWith a fresh MOT until August next year, this is a great opportunity to own a splendidly original and unmolested example of the rarer 'Custom’ version of a true Ford 1980s icon. It was back in 1970 that Ford introduced their Rally Sport models - the RS range. Originally designed as a way of building limited numbers of homologation specials for serious competition use, it soon grew into a major marketing opportunity, and one that Ford grabbed with both hands. By 1976, when the RS 2000 Mk2 was launched, the term RS had grown to mean something a bit special. In late 1978, the 'Custom Pack' became an option and included the following; 'Fishnet' Recaro seats, full door-cards, clock and pod centre console, 6J x 13″ alloys, boot carpet, remote drivers door mirror and the back panel around the rear lights was painted black. The key word to describe this car is originality. It still retains all the original body panels and glass and has been looked after extraordinarily well by its three owners from new (only two registered keepers on the V5C). Our late, much respected, vendor acquired the car back in 2014 from its second private owner and has professionally stored it ever since, indoors in a showroom and unregistered to him.Showing just 28,250 miles from new, a figure that is corroborated by the car’s MOT History, it drives really well today and is surely one of the best unrestored examples available. When supplied new to Breeze of Amble, Morpeth on 6-6-1980, the owner was the Managing Director of a Ford dealership and he immediately treated the car to an application of Dinitrol, a type of Waxoyl protection, still visible today and which has definitely helped protect the bodywork from any rust or corrosion. The original Custom-spec included some dealer-fitted options when new:Rear Ford mud flapsFront Ford carpet matsGlass sunroofFront wheelarch liners‘Group 1’ vented discs, calipers and compatible brake compensating valveRear seatbeltsJanspeed stainless steel exhaust and manifoldThe car shines in all the right areas - the spare wheel and tyre are original and unused, as are the ashtray and cigar lighter and 1 key fits all the locks as when new.Coming to the sale with a fresh MOT until August next year and a good history file, this is a great opportunity to own a splendidly original and unmolested example of the rarer 'Custom’ version of a true Ford 1980s icon.SpecificationMake: FORDModel: ESCORT MKII RS2000 CUSTOMYear: 1980Chassis Number: GCATAG005340Registration Number: DBB 134VTransmission: ManualEngine Number: AG00534Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 28382 MilesMake: RHDClick here for more details and images

The legendary Superblower, number 1 of just 22 (7001), only 6,100 miles and simply stunning."Yes. It's a real Cobra! "Number 1 of 22 Superblowers built between 1997-2001 by the AC Group in Brooklands Hand-crafted aluminium bodywork superbly finished in Stratos Silver and Porsche Ruby RedPowered by a 5-litre (302ci) Ford V8 producing 326bhp/375lb.ft. 0-60 in 4.5 secsFabulous interior in Oxblood leather, with deep red carpets, Smiths cream-faced instruments and a Moto-Lita steering wheelOptioned with Perspex sun-visors, colour-coded boot carpet, Mohair full tonneau, leather half tonneau, factory hood and side screens, headrests, chromed-brass stone guards, side wind-shields, Moto Lita steering wheel and a custom-made dust cover6,100 miles over 24 years in the hands of its 3 owners corroborated by every MOT From four years current ownership. MOT until September 2022 issued with no advisories. Our vendor has generously agreed to leave the Cherished Registration 'R50 COB' with the carThe arrival of the Cobra MkIV in 1983 heralded a new era for AC with the Hurlock family passing on the rights to the marque to Brian Angliss, who had been building Autokraft Cobra replicas for years, using much of the original ’60s tooling. Now officially badged AC these cars were lauded for their high levels of build quality and retention of the original’s spirit. Of course, AC was a very different company by then and despite healthy order books and enthusiastic owners, especially in the USA, it was beginning to struggle financially. Original 5.8-litre (302cu in) powered cars were a little bit disappointing on the performance front, but AC soon launched a lightweight version, which restored the balance somewhat. However, Angliss' tenancy of the company didn't last long, his relationship with Ford was a little ‘bumpy’, and by the 1990s, he had thrown in the towel and the company had passed on to new owner Alan Lubinski. In 1996 the company was purchased by Pride Automotive and two new 'Cobra' style cars were launched in 1997, the 'Superblower', an aluminium-bodied car with a supercharged 4,942-cubic-centimetre (301.6ci) Ford V8 providing 326bhp and the cheaper 'Carbon Road Series' (CRS) with a carbonfibre body and a 225bhp version of the Ford V8 engine. A total of 22 Superblowers and 37 CRS models were built between 1997 and 2001 as confirmed by the 'AC Car Group'. Silverstone Auctions are delighted to be able to offer this striking AC Cobra, one of the most recognisable sports car profiles in the world. It's one of just 22 supercharged 'Superblower' models hand-built in sheet aluminium by skilled English craftsmen at AC Car Group in Brooklands using some of the original factory tooling. It's logical to assume that #ACSB 7001 was probably the first 'Superblower' finished considering its 1997 registration date and the fact that the other Superblowers that we have seen are somewhere between 7001 and 7022.The car is powered by a supercharged 5-litre (302ci) Ford V8 producing 326bhp/375lb.ft. and offering 0-60 in 4.5 secs and 155mph. This power is fed through a 5-speed manual Borg-Warner T50 box to a 3.31 final drive. It's superbly presented in gleaming Silver with twin stripes in Porsche Ruby Red enhanced by colour-coded, polished-rim Halibrands with 3-eared knock offs, a chrome roll hoop, chrome nudge bars, riveted bonnet air-scoop, chromed brass stone guards, Perspex sun-visors, side wind shields and a classic 'Carroll Shelby Motors' US-style number plate holder. The interior is equally impressive with Oxblood leather, matching carpets, Smiths cream-faced instruments in a silver panel and a bespoke Moto-Lita steering wheel. It's supplied with a Mohair half-tonneau, a leather half-tonneau, Factory hood and side screens, a fire extinguisher and a fitted indoor dust cover. Our vendor is the Cobra's third owner and the indicated mileage of a tad short of 6,100 miles is corroborated by the 18 MOT Certificates in the history file. It's taxed and MOT'd until September 2022 and our vendor has generously agreed to leave the Cherished Registration 'R50 COB' with the car. An AC leather Mont Blanc wallet contains all the information and relevant paperwork on the car from new. This is a beautiful motor car in lovely condition, it's very rare and, importantly it's a REAL AC Cobra. Having travelled quite a lot in, somewhat agricultural, early cars and enjoyed trips in various replicas some well engineered and some a lot less so, the single question that always awaits whenever you stop is "Is it a real one, mate". But in this case, instead of having to explain that it's a 'Dipstick Mark 3' or whatever, the undoubtedly enjoyable response will be "It certainly is". Lot 562

A much-celebrated, magazine-featured, Two-Door Classic in an evocative period hue.A very late-production two-door first registered on 25/06/1981Comprehensive body restoration and rebuilt overdrive about 10 years agoAttractively presented in, period-correct, Tuscan BlueRe-trimmed in the EXACT period correct ‘teddy bear’ velour (now completely unobtainable) and most of the carpet replaced with new/old stock resulting in an 'almost new' appearanceFrom 5-years ownership and we understand has covered a genuine mileage of c68,000The car featured extensively in the JLR 70th Anniversary celebrations at their experience centre in Spain and was part of the after-dinner parade and presentationIt was also invited to the Goodwood Speedweek Range Rover 50th celebration in 2020 and has been featured in many significant magazine articles, including Octane, Car etc.Good history file including invoices totalling £8,729 for restoration work in 2011. Fresh MOT valid until 22/10/2022 with 'No Advisories'. 2-door Classic Range Rovers are wholly endearing and always seem in fashion, blending in effortlessly whether at Goodwood or a local country show.NB: The cherished Registration Number HEG 8E does not form part of the sale. The no-nonsense Land Rover was an unashamed agricultural workhorse and, though fully roadable, was never intended to cosset its occupants. From day one, there therefore lay scope for the production of a sibling that combined the Landie’s much vaunted off-road prowess with a greater degree of on-road chic and comfort. Though various such plans were mooted in the 1950s, it was the emergence of the SUV market in America a decade later that finally convinced Rover to create such a model. Spen King famously oversaw the ‘100 inch Station Wagon’ project that was finally revealed to the world as the Range Rover in 1970 - a David Bache design that created a whole new genre of go-anywhere vehicles, which remains in full bloom today.Production of the first generation, two-door cars finished in 1981 and this is one of the last off the line, being first registered on 25/06/1981. It had a comprehensive body restoration and some mechanical work including a rebuilt overdrive about 10 years ago and today it's attractively presented in, period-correct, Tuscan Blue. What makes it really special however, is the fact that it was re-trimmed in the EXACT period-correct ‘teddy bear’ velours, now completely unobtainable and, even when our vendor was at JLR, it proved impossible to source any of this trim. The carpet has also been replaced with new old stock and the interior, consequently, has an almost new feel. This rather smart, early RR is on offer from five-years ownership and we understand has covered a genuine 68,000 miles. It featured extensively in the JLR 70th Anniversary celebrations at their experience centre in Spain and was part of the after-dinner parade and presentation. It was also invited to the Goodwood Speedweek Range Rover 50th celebration in 2020 and has been featured in many significant magazine articles, including Octane', Car and Land Rover Owner. It has a good history file including invoices totalling £8,729 for restoration work in 2011 and has a fresh MOT valid until 22/10/2022 with 'No Advisories'. 2-door Classic Range Rovers are wholly endearing and always seem in fashion, blending in effortlessly whether at Goodwood or a local country show.SpecificationMake: LAND ROVERModel: CLASSICYear: 1981Chassis Number: SALLHABV2AA111859Registration Number: RKP 608WEngine Number: 34140157F Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 68030 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: 'Teddy Bear' velourClick here for more details and images
