1987 Jaguar XJS Jubilee Edition Transmission: automaticMileage:96740The Jaguar XJS was introduced in 1975 as the successor to the E-Type and remained in production for 21 years. Designed as a Grand Tourer rather than an out and out sportscar the XJS was powered by Jaguar's 5.3 litre V12 engine, with the choice of manual or automatic transmission. Producing 295bhp, the XJS was capable of 150mph and with all-round independent coil suspension, power assisted steering, and disc brakes offered excellent handling. The dramatic styling of the XJS did not go unnoticed by one of the foremost Jaguar dealers of the time Guy Salmon, who commissioned a limited Jubilee Edition. This limited Jubilee Edition featured only 25 cars and there are less than 10 of these left on the road today. Styling enhancements included Daimler round headlights (four), a unique front grille (also based on a Daimler), roof spoiler, extra chrome work and walnut veneer throughout the interior. The Jaguar XJS Jubilee Edition offered here is a 1987 registered example and is finished in grey metallic with a grey leather interior. Having covered 96,740 miles this three-owner example was purchased by its current owner, a Jaguar enthusiast, in 2003 and boasts a comprehensive history file. Specification highlights include automatic transmission, electric seats, cruise control, electric door mirrors, air conditioning, electric windows, trip computer, heated seats and carpet mats. This is a rare collector's opportunity to obtain a very limited example of the ever-popular XJS.Guide price £10,000-£15,000

1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom I Dual Cowl Open Tourer Transmission: manualMileage:9064In 1925, the 'New Phantom', with its overhead-valve engine and four-wheel brakes was introduced. The example offered today left the factory in October 1928 for coachbuilders Arthur Mulliner to be fitted with coachwork for its first owner, Lord Hillingdon of Paulerspury, Northamptonshire. (A photograph of the finished car appears in 'Those Elegant Rolls-Royce' by Lawrence Dalton). In the post-war years, it fell into disrepair and was finally taken off the road in 1961. After lying unused for over 40 years, the car was then purchased in 2002 by the previous owner who set about returning '83WR' to its former glory. This most elegant example has have been the subject of an extensive restoration over the years with the engine rebuilt from the ground up by noted Rolls-Royce and Bentley specialists, Ristes, in 2003. The cylinder blocks were rebored and honed to +040" with oversized pistons fitted, top and bottom faces skimmed and waterways cleared with external surfaces stove enamelled as original. The crankshaft was ground to undersize with new white metal bearings fitted. Oilways were cleaned out and new plugs fitted with new white metal bearings to con-rods and new camshafts fitted. The bottom face has also been skimmed flat with new valve guides, exhaust valves and rocker faces built up and re-profiled. The slipper drive was re-lined and set to the correct torque setting with the oil pump reconditioned. All ancillary items including dynamo, magneto, water-pump etc were also fully re-conditioned and finished as per original. The carburettor was reconditioned to factory settings with new spark plugs, leads and a freshly stripped and re-conditioned Autovac with all new parts as necessary. The exhaust system was also replaced from manifold to fish-tail tip. The radiator was fitted with a new core and all shutters were nickel plated, new hoses and original pattern clips throughout. Both front and rear spring leaves were separated, cleaned, de-scaled, greased and re-assembled. The rear shock absorbers were dismantled, cleaned and painted with all new leather gaiters fitted to the spring with triple lock panels on the running boards for access. The chassis was also stripped to bare metal with all mechanical items removed, sandblasted, painted and refitted. The Front axle was also sandblasted and painted with kingpins built up and re-machined to size. New bushes and bearings were also fitted, new ball pins fitted to all steering swivel joints and even the steering box was stripped and checked for wear, cleaned and re-assembled. All shock absorbers were stripped, cleaned and painted, worn shafts were built up and re-machined to size. The wheel hubs and bearings were stripped, cleaned and inspected for wear then repacked with grease and reassembled. The cross steering tube and side steering tube swivels were re-set to correct poundage with new leather gaiters. All hubs have dismantled, cleaned and inspected for wear then re-packed with grease and re-assembled. The universal joint in the torque tube has been re-bushed with new leather seal fitted. New linings have been fitted all round and the front drums skimmed. Importantly, for a two tonne car, new brake cables have been fitted both front and rear. The wheels have been dismantled, re-spoked and a stove enamelled finish applied with new tyres and inner tubes including a side-mounted spare. The original Mulliner body has long-since gone to be replaced with a very well-constructed duel-cowl open tourer torpedo coachwork. The frame is Ash with aluminium panels, aluminium wings and a new aluminium firewall. The new bonnet has been built with period-style sliding side vents, nickel silver hinges and rivets which match the handbrake, gear lever and all lighting equipment. The luxurious interior is trimmed in high quality, red leather and contrasting black mohair hood, hoodbag and side-screens. The instrument panel presents with a deep gloss finish and garnish rails. The comprehensive array of instruments themselves have all been with the main ignition and lighting functions also stove-enamelled and re-lettered as have the controls on the steering column. The wiring loom has been replaced with a cotton-braided unit in the original colours and even following the original conduits. The original bell-shaped Lucas headlamps are fitted with main and dipped beam operated through the dash-mounted dimmer switch. Brake lights and indicators are incorporate within sidelights to the front and classic rear divers-helmet rear tail lamps. Even the Klaxon horn has been fully re-conditioned and operational.Needless to say, Wilton carpet can be found at feet level with an additional hinged panel behind the front seat to provide storage for the side-screens. The nickel-plated theme continues with the windscreen frame housing, interior mirror and exterior wing-mirror (carried on the side-mounted spare wheel). Not to mention the rear luggage rack fitted with reconditioned Brooks 'Brexton' trunk. Also supplied is the wheel spanner, bottle jack, starting handle, grease gun, extensive history file and owner's handbook. This represents a supremely elegant motor car produced by the most famous marque in the world, there is little doubt, with some light fettling, that it would win prizes were she shown.Quite simply, beautiful.

1991 Land Rover Defender 110 200TDi 'Safari' Transmission: manualMileage:85823There is little doubt that one of the most famous shapes on British roads over the last 50 years is the Land Rover. This go-anywhere vehicle has been used on airfields, as ambulances, crossing jungles deserts and ice caps. The rear body not only presents in standard factory guise but with a huge range of adaptations such as pickup trucks, tow trucks, general haulage and immediate triage on the front line. These working vehicles can also be utilised for pleasure, however, as is the case here. Decommissioned from military service in 2003, it has been repainted and modernised with a TD5 bonnet, grill and alloy wheels as well as a 200 TDi engine, LT77 gearbox along with higher ratio transfer box and new rear differential. The timing belt, pulleys, tensions, water pump and auxiliary belts were also replaced as has exhaust and the radiator is now a high volume aluminium unit. Chequer plate protects the wing tops and rear wings and even the standard door hinges have been upgraded with SC Engineering components. In 2013, uprated Bearmach springs and lifted shock absorbers were fitted with vast storage on the roof with a galvanised steel removable roof rack and ladder and tow hook and, when ready to set camp, a Backroadz five-person SUV tent/awning is included that can be attached to the rear of the vehicle with a fully suspended cargo net. There is little wear overall with the interior converted to a rudimentary yet comfortable overland camper. Sound deadening, insulation and carpet has been fitted throughout with a wind-driven rotating ventilation system to the roof. There is a removable false floor providing a sleeping platform with storage below with leisure batteries to power interior LED lighting and USB charger ports. Defender MUD insulated blackout window blinds are supplied as well as front seat covers. The chassis has since been regularly WaxOyled and a 'Halo' LED light conversion has been fitted with a Pioneer DAB radio with Bluetooth phone connectivity with four rear and two front Pioneer speakers. All this combined with a comprehensive history file offers an unrivalled off-road, overland package.Interested parties should note that prior to the speedometer/odometer change, this was reading 73,144 miles (equivalent) and the new odometer read c.47,000 miles when fitted. The current reading is now approx. 86,000 miles.

1983 Volkswagen Mk. I Golf GTi Transmission: manualMileage:137000Launched in 1974, the Golf represented a complete break with Volkswagen tradition, yet it would prove as big a sales success as its Beetle predecessor. In GTi form the Golf has become one of the great icons of modern motoring, giving rise to an entirely new class of sporting saloon - the 'hot hatch' - in the process. First seen at the Frankfurt Show in September 1975, the GTi came with a 1.6 litre, fuel-injected, 110bhp engine which, in a car weighing a mere 846 kilos (1,861lbs) resulted in a performance package of a type not seen since the demise of the Mini Cooper 1275 S. Increasing competition from rival manufacturers prompted the introduction of a 1.8 litre GTi in 1982, and although maximum power increased only slightly to 114bhp there was a considerable improvement in mid-range acceleration. This example of the iconic Mk. I Golf GTi was first registered on 4th February 1983 and supplied with the Volkswagen Classic Parts build certificate. Presented in its original colour black with matching trim, the incredible restoration is frankly better than when the car was supplied new, and the car still holds the registration number etched into side windows. Within the history file are significant amounts of invoices for restoration work that has taken place including invoices for the parts fitted including items such as set of period correct Pirelli Cinturato tyres and matching refurbished spare wheel with brand new matching Pirelli tyre, all new braided/zinced fuel lines, top tint windscreen, full carpet set and Zircotec coated inlet manifold, new window seals, correct Sachs suspension and brakes. The engine was subject to a full rebuild including new water pump and cambelt with again photos of work completed. Inside, is a period correct Blaupunkt cassette player discretely modified for Bluetooth connectivity which complements an unmolested and as original as they come example which we are told runs, drives and performs superbly with two sets of keys and all locks on matching key. A new MoT test certificate until July 2024 is included and as our owner asked for a full comprehensive inspection at this time the lack of exhaust heat shields was highlighted which have now been sourced and fitted, other advisories were the front ball joint rubber seals could need replacing, a slight coolant weep and near side wheel bearing, subsequently both front ball joints have been replaced, new heater control valve fitted (coolant leak) and wheel bearing now adjusted so the car is perfect, befitting of a multiple show winning example.Accolades include multiple concourse and show and shine winners in recent years with trophies at events such as VW Festival, Deva Dubs and Rods, VW Breakout and Back 2 Basics for which the trophies are included in the sale. A fully restored original example that is possibly one of the best examples in the UK today.

1991 Alfa Romeo Spider S4 Transmission: automaticMileage:99018The Spider designation for the open top sports cars originates from the word, speeder, and a two-person open horse carriage. The Alfa Romeo 105/115 Series Spider was produced from 1966 to 1993, remaining in production for almost three decades with only minor aesthetic and mechanical changes. Widely regarded as a design classic, this fourth series version of production came with further mechanical and cosmetic changes. Mechanical changes saw the introduction of the Bosch Motronic electronic fuel injection with an electric fan and cosmetically, losing its front under bumper spoiler and the rear boot spoiler picking up 164-style rear lights stretching across the width of the car together with colour co-ordinated plastic bumpers. This very good left hand drive, 1991 Series 4, Alfa Romeo Spider was imported from Japan in 2016 and purchased by the current owner a couple of months later. While in his ownership he acquired a factory hardtop, replaced the automatic gearbox with a reconditioned Alfa Romeo manual gearbox, fitted a set of Zandar alloy wheels and in 2018 he had the car repainted. The car has just been serviced and MoT'd. Finished in black with the original beige interior, this Alfa Romeo Spider is supplied with V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2024 and a file containing invoices since being imported in 2016. Also supplied with the car is a number of spare parts including an original, replacement, one piece carpet. This is an ideal car for continental touring which the current owner has done on a number of occasions.
