A machine made wool carpet, in the manner of Lucienne Day, possibly American, decorated with rows of geometric motif in colours on a cream ground annotated to reverse, 338 x 238cm. Literature Andrew Casey, Lucienne Day Textile Design, Antique Collector's Club, page 128-129 for examples of Day's Miscellany pattern, circa 1952, which has similar abstract motif.
An American Saruq carpet, second quarter 20th century, the central dark blue and ivory four point medallion with floral pendants, on a faded pale madder ground with all over floral vine decoration, within a mid-blue Herati border and floral meander guards, 164 x 124½in. (417 x 317cm.).* Condition: Lacks fringes, A little minor selvege wear. Red dyes faded. A few areas of wear to pile around edges of field, probably from use under a dining table. A few small old stitched repairs.
