A Persian carpet, with all-over decoration of repeating square medallions in red, cream and blue within red, blue and cream floral decorated borders, 400 cm x 295 cm CONDITION REPORTS Overall basically sound although with some wear throughout and some discolouration in areas where it appears that cream or white areas have gone slightly pink, although this may be part of the original design (please see images)

Overall wear, heavy in places; some holes, corrosion to black/brown; losses to ends; fabric patches sewn verso. Together with a Kuba ‘Seichur’ design sumac rug, north east Caucasus, late 19th century, 8ft. 1in. x 4ft. 6in. 2.46m. x 1.37m. Overall wear with heavy corrosion; crude repairs. (2)
Good Luri main carpet, Luristan, south west Persia, early 20th century, 12ft. 8in. x 5ft. 7in. 3.86m. x 1.70m. Some wear in places with small amounts of repiling; slight losses to ends. A Luri carpet of almost identical design is illustrated in MacDonald, Brian. Tribal Rugs. Treasures of the Black Tent, p. 178, pl. 128. A most attractive carpet with exceptional colour.
Four Herat carpet border fragments, north east Persia, early 19th century, 2ft. 4in. x 10in. 0.71m. x 26cm. 2ft. 3in. x 12in. 0.69m. x 0.30m.; 2ft. 2in. x 12in. 0.66m. x 0.30m. And 1ft. 8in. x 11in., 0.51m. x 0.28m. Together with a Beshir Turkmen carpet fragment, 19th century, 1ft. 8in. x 1ft. 4in. 0.51m. x 0.41m. All for use as cushions with red velvet backs and zips. All with some wear. Sold as a collection with all faults not subject to return. (5)
Impressive Ravar Kerman prayer carpet, south west Persia, late 19th century, 16ft. 9in. x 10ft. 6in. 5.11m. x 3.20m. Overall wear; heavy in places; conservation repairs to foundation; slight losses to ends. Note the beautifully drawn design including cypress trees in two sizes with other blossoming trees at the base, the branches scrolling into the field and forming a pale brown ogival lattice enclosing flowering shrubs and plants and with ivory flowerheads in the top of the mihrab.
Good Amritzar carpet, north India, early 20th century, 13ft. 11in. x 10ft. 1in. 4.25m. x 3.07m. Some surface marks. Note the beautifully abrashed pale blue field with spectacular design of sweeping floral racemes at each end; the floral motifs around the outer edge of the field and the ivory floral main border. A most attractive carpet.
Exceptional ‘PETAG’ Tabriz carpet with çintimani insignia in top left pistachio green inner guard, north west Persia, circa 1920s, 12ft. 11in. x 10ft. 4in. 3.94m. x 3.15m. Some wear in places. PETAG, short for The Persische Teppich AG (Persian Carpet Company), started in Berlin in 1911, a renowned company which opened a workshop in Tabriz under the inspirational direction of Heinrich Jacoby reproducing fine antique carpet designs using high quality wool and vegetable dyes. Note the flowering plants in the camel ogival strapwork trellis and the small white flowerheads among scrolling strapwork and palmettes in the wide stone coloured main border.
Sivas carpet of classic hunting design on a rose field, east Anatolia, early 20th century, 11ft. 2in. x 8ft. 2in. 3.40m. x 2.49m. Overall even wear. Note the profusion of animals in the field; the serpents forming cloudband shapes and the winged mythical animals in the rich dark blue spandrels; floral cartouches and rosettes in the ivory main border. A most attractive carpet of good colour.
