USHAK CARPET, Central/West Anatolia, circa 1900, the bottle green field with an all over design of large angular vines and flower heads enclosed by wide brick red borders of stylised plants flanked by double guard stripes, 430cm x 405cm, reduced in size and rejoined Provenance: purchased by the Hon EWB Portman for Hestercombe House the contents of which were auctioned in 1952 in lieu of death duties. Purchased at this sale by a local farmer and given to the current vendor in 1979.

In carved ivory depicting a group of figures composed by an artisan, her son and a puppy seated on a braided hemp or straw carpet, 3 cm. high. With an expert's report issued by the Spanish Federation of Antique dealers attached.

A Chinese carpet the central mon to a camel ground with blue spandrels and guard stripes, 345cm x 254cm CONDITION REPORT: Lot 541Stained carpet noticeably in places; border frayed and fringe also frayed. No holes that we can see. Very yellowy in colour and furniture marks also. Not apparent if from a smoke-free home or not.
