Interesting Ushak carpet fragment, west Anatolia, 17th century, 4ft. 2in. (max) x 2ft. 8in. 1.27m. x 0.81m. Now laid on linen. Somewhat worn as one would expect a fragment of this age to be; what is present, however, has a beauty of its own. Note the wide blue main border with large flowerheads and angular tendrils and the blue on red filigree ornaments on the small amount of the field present. A similar design is illustrated in Zipper & Fritzsche, Oriental Rugs, Vol. 4 Turkish Rugs, p. 78, pl. 79
