A good Qolyahi Kurd runner, Kermanshah area of Hamadan, north west Persia dated 1354AH (1935-6CE), 16ft.11in. x 3ft.6in. 5.16m. x 1.07m. ++Very slight wear in places; this runner has been used as a stair carpet and the surprisingly small amount of wear is confined to some of the tread areas, which can be discerned by the regular bands of dirt.
Massive Ushak carpet, west Anatolia late 19th century, 20ft.3in. x 17ft.6in. 6.17m. x 5.34m. ++Overall wear, heavier in places, all borders patched and, to left and base, partly or wholly replaced. The direction of the pile in what is now the bottom border indicates that it once came from the side of a carpet. Given that no cuts on the present carpet encroach into the field, the latter is probably its original size with some of the borders coming from a matching carpet.
A massive Spanish carpet, signed and dated in full in top outer 'frame' 'REAL FABRICA DE TAPICES' and 'G.STOYER=MADRID 1901'. 13ft. 3in. x 17ft.1in. 4.05m. x 5.20m. ++Overall wear, top right corner rewoven and several other large and small reweaves, minor splits. A fully signed and dated Spanish carpet is most unusual and of considerable documentary interest. The carpet is woven on the long axis.
Feraghan carpet, north west Persia second half 19th century, 15ft. 11in. x 11ft.7in. 4.85m. x 3.53m. ++Overall wear, heavier at top end, two cuts for fireplace and small split right border, small cut left border, small hole lower end. A carpet with particularly beautiful colour, especially in the main border.
