A Bakshaish carpet, the madder field decorated with an overall design of flowerheads and foliage, within blue borders decorated with palmettes and patera, approximately 452 x 557cmCondition Report: Wear to carpet overall. Wear reveals underlying weft and pale knot heads to borders and central field. Longest edges are untidy. They have been re-bound in areas using varying colours of thread and have wear, sections of loss and loose threads. Fringing with wear, losses and fraying, this encroaches into the guard stripe at both ends. One of the longest edges with several tears. One long tear (approximately 83cm) has been repaired but is starting to open. Various small holes to central field and borders.
