Persian wool carpet, central medallion against a scrolling one field, enclosed by similar borders, 385x290cm. Antique Bakhtiari “Khan” carpet. 1910/1920 ca. Made in the Shalamzar workshop by order of the wife of Khan Bibi Mah Magum. The main border on a bright red background bears references to the Qashqai tribe, included in the Bakhtiari family at the end of the 19th century, Bibi Magum belonged to the Qashqai ethnic group. The midnight blue field with darker gradation areas, tending towards black, is decorated with multi-colored leaves and medallions arranged over the entire field. With a cartouche "commissioned for the high excellence Agha Morteza Gholi Khan" (Morteza Quli/Gholi Khan 1877-1945) in the Shalamzar workshop. It certifies the quality and importance of this carpet. In this carpet atelier, more than 300 people were involved and the best master knotters were recruited from the most important cities such as Kashan, Isfahan and Kerman.Khan Morteza Quli Khan Bakhtiari, was probably among the most powerful and richest Persian Khans of his lineage; sensitive to the causes of the poor and women.For references, Hali 43 Publications, Ian Bennet: Persian Tribal Carpets Part 1 and Part 2 and Morteza Quli Khan Bakhtiari/the last Khan. 690x390 cm approx. Tappeto antico Bakhtiari “Khan”. 1910/1920 ca. Realizzato nel laboratorio di Shalamzar per volontà della moglie del Khan Bibi Mah Magum. Il bordo principale su fondo rosso vivo porta con sé riferimenti della tribù Qashqai, inclusa nella famiglia Bakhtiari alla fine del XIX secolo, Bibi Magum apparteneva all’etnia dei Qashqai. Il campo in blu notte con aree di gradazione più scure, tendenti al nero, è decorato con foglie multicolori e medaglioni disposti su tutto il campo.
