A very fine Persian Kashan carpet, mid 20th century, part silk, the camel ground with floral vines, deer and birds, ex Lidchi's, Johannesburg 1974 (stitched fabric label to verso) 248 cm x 158 cmNo signs of moth damage. Some losses to fringes. Slight wear to some of the edging but generally good condition with even wear. Would benefit from a clean but altogether a good carpet with lively colour and no fading.

Persian rug; Iran, 1950s.Wool and silk.200.000 knots/m2.Measurements: 355 x 245 cm.Persian carpet which presents a red color field with reserves towards the corners and vegetable elements joined with stems arranged in a way that reminds of a dome with apses, and around a central motif in the shape of a star or flower. The border is composed of seven bands plus a thin outer border. In the center there is a larger band with a decoration of synthesized stems on a blue background. Meanwhile, in the six bands, three on each side of the central band, a simpler ornamentation based on alternating colors can be seen.Persian carpets stand out for their great popularity and reputation due to their technical and ornamental quality. Those of greater value are made of wool and silk, and with respect to its ornamentation, it stands out for the use of a medallion located in the central area, which is accompanied by other elements of vegetal character.
