A TABRIZ SILK AND WOOL CARPETApproximately 365 x 263cmCondition Report: Overall some signs of age and wear, the pile however is not too worn overallThe edges and fringing is untidy and uneven in places, the fringes especially appear to have been cut shortThere are marks, folds and wear consistent with age and use.There are losses, restorations and observations including: the longer length of the pile gives a slightly hazy rather than sharp outlines to the design; the length of pile when crushed in different directions gives a darker silk appearance; the fringe is unevenly worn, greatly to one end; the dark outer border is slightly uneven in width suggesting some later bindings, with signs of later bindings and some later stitching to the underside; some undulation; some lifting of carpet in part due to previous folding.
